| Manager wrong or me?
Yesterday I went to Target to get the 2.5oz Gillette fusion shaving gel for my husband. They had some so I grabbed it with a couple of items I had qs for and stood in line to check out. Well the cashier rang up my items and I gave him my qs for the items. The neutrogena coupons went through fine when he got to the Gillette coupons he scanned two in. Then he realizes that the q was for more than the price of the item. He tells me he cannot accept the q because it was for more than the price of the item. I responded that the Target store that I frequently go to will reduce the amount of q to the price of that item. He looks at me then he says I have never heard of that. He asks the cashier checking out next to him about it. Well neither one of them had a clue so he decided to bring in the manager ,Kyle. Let me say that man is as ignorant of their coupon policy as the cashiers. He starts in that the coupon was for more than the price of the item and that they couldn't take it. Well I responded again it was in their policy to reduce it down. I asked him if he would like to look at the policy. He snidely remarks that he knew the policy and to not bother. Then he starts in that I was buying the wrong product anyway. It wasn't a shave prep item. I told him that the picture shows a picture of shaving gel just like my item just different size. Then he goes on to that it was for the wrong size. I responded that the q does not exclude any sizes at all. So he went back to it being the wrong item. I was really frustrated at this point. I pointed out to him the coupon scanned just fine it was just over the price of the item and could be fixed by reducing the q amount. To that he responded that any coupon that is scanned will automatically just deduct even if you have the wrong items. By this time I was tired of all this and I felt bad because there was an elderly couple behind me waiting to check out. So I told him to void the whole thing off and walked away. I went to the guest desk and asked for the store manager. Unfortunately he wasn't in but the employee working behind the desk sent for the assistant manager. Guess who came? ( Let me say I wasn't too thrill to have to deal with him anymore.)Well needless to say I got the number to customer relations and the store number to have a chat with the store manager about this whole situation. Before doing so I wanted to make sure I was right before I make a formal complaint. Don't want to get people in trouble without them being wrong. So am I right or wrong? |

You're right. I used this coupon and it worked fine, my cashier didn't even adjust it down! ALWAYS stand your ground! This was hard for me to do at first, because I am a nonconfrontational person, but I have been getting better at it.

I would say you are right. They should have taken the coupon and adjusted it down to the price. You should definitely carry a written copy of Target's coupon policy with you. At my Target, they scan the Q and it automatically adjusts down, so I don't know what was going on there.....

You are absolutly correct. Call. Though in all honesty I have NEVER had Target adjust one of my coupons down LOL (I guess I'm just lucky though in truth I didn't know that they had to :/ oops!)

I am completely the opposite I guess cause I am a guy, I love when someone tries to tell me I am wrong when I am not. I have done this several times in Wal-Mart well when I still went there. You were right it is their policy to mark it down.

I would have been annoyed and pissed too! I hope you got all the names of the employees so that each one is retrained of Target's coupon policy.

I will say that the Target in Wesley Chapel FL on the corner of BBD and County line Rd will not accept a coupon that is for more than then item nor will they reduce it down. I have fought with the front store manager who than appears as the manager. I am an long time couponer. This location also indicates that the pictured item must match, guess they can't read and they do not know the word "any" item. I stopped regulary shopping Target and will now only use my totally free coupons at Target! Go Walmart as they now accept others coupons.

And OP, you are in the right. I have used this coupon many times without problems. There is no size restriction and shaving cream is a SHAVE PREP item. What a tool. |

I have a feeling no matter what I would have said he would come up with something else. I'm pretty sure he didn't want me to walk out of there getting stuff for free and he came up with some excuses. This is a Target I hardly go to because every time I go there something always happens. Last time I went was when the the lego bags were .39. When I scanned it no price came up. Took it to the register asked her to scan for the price, nothing came up. It asked for the price instead. They saw the new toy story legos and said it was 3.99. I told them I just bought them for .39 down the street. Well after three employees later someone came with a gun and scans it. Apparently they never put it down as a clearance item but left a ton of it on the shelf to be bought. Then they wanted me to come back the day after to get the items when it was put in their system. Well the employee lets me get them after I asked him if I might be able to get them today instead of having to drive back. He allows me to get them and when hes done ringing me out instead of handing me the bag and reciept he leaves. His coworker standing behind him had her mouth open in disbelief. The first words out of her mouth was I can't believe he didn't even finish. Lucky for me the Target I frequent all the time is coupon friendly and knows their policy. This just happened to be a time I waited to long and the shaving gel was all sold out there. |

Gillette Fusion and Gillette Series are different products. I actually save 1 of every coupon that works for the travel size products...and I have one that DID work for the Gillette Series travel size. The two main differences with these coupons...1 says Gillette FUSION Shave Prep, the other says Gillette SERIES Shave Prep. Secondly, the one you used pictures Gillette FUSION and says on 1 Gillette FUSION, NOT SERIES. You might wanna be more careful on the useage of that coupon on the Gillette Series, as thats for the FUSION. Unless of course its the FUSION you get. Just wanna make people AWARE of the difference. I'm not sure why amybonnema thinks I was trying to buy the regular gillette series when I stated in the original post that I was buying the fusion series 2.5 oz. I always make sure my coupons match with the product and isn't expired before taking it to the register. The can was orange and said fusion on it! Pretty sure it was the right product!

I believe they might be correct in saying that the 1.00/1 Gillette Fusion Shave Prep Coupon is not for the Gillette Series travel size. Gillette Fusion and Gillette Series are different products. I just said the OP was correct in using the coupon for the product. I didn't say you were incorrect. I was just letting the OP know it was fine to use that coupon. Nothing towards you

I had the same problem last night at Wal-Mart for my Q with Dulcolax, she said I can't take this q it is more than the cost of the item, I then tried to tell her that it was their policy that they give money back if it is more, which I didn't want, just wanted the overage, then the CSM came over and said well we can't because it is an internet coupon. Needless to say I won't be going back to that store. No you are not wrong, when I go to Target they always adjust it down, I don't get overage, but I always get the item free. Hope things go better for you. When I run into problems like that I just try to avoid that store and go to a store that really wants my business. I don't understand, it is not like they don't get the money for that coupon. Good Luck..

I had the same problem with the Aquafresh toothpaste coupon today! The coupon beeped because it was for $1/1 and the toothpaste is $.97. The cashier didn't know what to do so she called over a lady whose name badge said "trainer" on it. This lady told me that I could not use the coupon because "You can't use it on a trial size item" I then told her "It doesn't say that on the coupon" and she said "Targets coupon policy says that coupons can not be used on trial size items, only full size".. she clearly made that up which made me so angry since she is supposed to be the "trainer" and obviously doesn't know their coupon policy. I didn't have the policy with me because it was an unexpected stop and I just happened to have the coupons with me loose in my purse. Anyway, I am going to go back there again and bring the policy. We will see how it goes! I am interested to see what Target Corporate has to say about all this!

I would kindly bring this issue up as well. Just so they can see how 'friendly' this store is. That way with the boatload of other complaints, it will all start to piece together. I'm almost certain other ppl complain bc that right there would've gotten him a call straight to corporate 2 secs later. |

I just stopped shopping at Target, I've had my frustations dealing with them regarding coupon and I just don't want to argue with them anymore because there's no point and you will never win with them. I just take them to Food for less, Ralphs,Walmart,CVS, and Rite Aid! are my favorites! |
