Thumbs down Shelf price vs. Register price- I feel ripped off

I went today to perhaps buy some diapers and made that row my first stop. I noticed that luvs shelf price was $6.99, I was like score!!! so I picked up a few packs. by the time I finished my shopping and got checked out. When I got back in to the car I looked at my receipt and noticed they rang up $7.99. So I got the kiddo back out of the car and when back in to see if CS would fix it.

Well that computer was saying 7.99 also, and she called the manager to look at the shelf which said 7.99. I asked the lady if they just changed the price this morning and she said probably not they usually do that on sundays.

Now when I was in the aisle getting the diapers there were employees in there stocking and it looked like they were changing price tags too(not sure if they were). Do they keep track of when they do this...like date and time?

If I am right I want my money back and my sanity too for that matter.

I'm not sure about when prices are changed on the shelves. In my Target, the sale price thingys (for lack of a better/correct word) are mostly in the floor and not even on the shelves. For what it's worth, I bought a pack of Luvs today and they were $7.99.

I actually got a good deal

I was at my Target yesterday and today stocking up on Luvs diapers. The shelf price said 6.99, but when I got to the register the diapers came up as 5.86. So with the 1.50 coupon I got a pack of jumbo diapers for 4.36. So far I have bought 10 packages of different sizes to stock up. I have never seen the price this cheap for jumbo diapers anywhere. I am going to try to go back in a couple of days, we have a big storm coming thru our area, so hopefully I can get the kiddo's out on Saturday.

In the state of Michigan it is the law that the items have to all be marked and the marked price is what you pay, if not you get 5 times the amount back up to 5.00. We had a couple of stores just get major fines for not following the laws.

My DH works for Target and he said that if you can prove where you got the item Target has to give it to you at that price. A couple of weeks ago a woman was picking up something and it was suppose to be $9.xx, but it was on a couple of shelves lower that was marked at $5.xx they had to give it to her for that price.

Yes, its true that they have to give you the price that says on the shelf.

The problem is, sometimes Target's pricing teams are smaller than others. This happens when District and/or corporate dictates how many employees a Target can hire based on revenue from that store (can only hire x amount of people based on a percentage that the store sells). Some Target's pricing teams are larger than others, and even then Targets are huge stores with lots of items they have to deal with. The pricing team gets printouts everyday/every week of what needs to be changed. Sometimes, it just takes long to get to everything, especially when they are dealing with clearance items. Or, in the case of the time of year: typically, retailers and grocery stores actually hike up prices around the holiday season.

Hope that helps answer some questions

I should have taken a picture of the shelf price...I guess I am just out that money (if it was true, now I think my mind was playing tricks on me). Cause I have no way of proving the price. It seems that one of the last times this happened to me, they just trusted me and gave me the difference in price. Who knows...
