New to this whole forum but NOT new to Target... I just bought these awesome leather storage ottomans (on clearance) at 1 super target and then when I wanted 1 more (I bought them out) and checked at the super target not 5mi. away that "clearance" was $15 MORE-- is this normal?! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts/experiences. Frustrated mommy in KS. ![]()

Yes. We have 3 Targets within my area and all have different prices. It has something to do with demographics. For clearances I believe it has more to do with how much inventory is left that they need to clear out. (Same situation with the 3 Walmarts in my area)

Yes, different clearance prices are very normal. I found that out when they had the iRobot Scooba clearance earlier this year. My local store had the unit for $74.94 (75% off) & the store in the next town had it for $149.98 (50% off). I tried to pricematch it with my receipt from the other store & was told by the manager that clearance prices vary from store to store based on remaining stock and that if I wanted it that I would have to pay the price marked or wait for further markdowns. Since that manager didn't want to cooperate and that store was out of my way (it would be difficult to check the price regularly there), I bought it & "relocated" it to my usual store by returning one I had bought previously that had beat up packaging. They won't allow you to return & rebuy immediately, so I returned the next morning to see if it made it back out to the floor at 75% off. It did.......I saw it turn the corner of the aisle at the clearance endcap on the bottom of somebody else's cart. Poetic justice some would say, I guess........I figured it was worth a shot since I didn't "need" it. The ebay profits from the others helped pay for the new refrigerator I needed to buy. If you need another to match one you already bought, you'll have to play the waiting game to decide if it is worth it to wait for the discount or to go ahead & pay it to guarantee you get what you want. I have even seen different prices at Target on normal priced shelf items. Sometimes I believe that is due to price adjustments happening at different times in different stores. I bought some dog bones at one store for $2.45 one day & $1.97 at another store the next day. A couple days later at the first store they had a "Price Cut" sign indicating they were now $1.97. Just goes to show that with retail.....everything is YMMV.

I've had similar experiences as Kville~~sometimes one store has a lot of stock but it's not marked down as much as another store that I've already cleaned out. I just play the waiting game. I too use ebay to unload some great clearance stuff that I've bought so usually I play the waiting game until it's marked down at least 75%.

I can drive an hour in 2 diffrent dirrections to get to Target. So I alternate going to one then the other. One has all their big boxes of diapers gone, they clearanced them awile ago to make room for back to school and now Halloween. The other store still has them at the regular price.

Also, 75% is usually your best price point with the exception of seasonal merchandise which can go to 90%. Most normal merchandise is salvaged out after it doesn't sell at 75% off.

My husband works for Wal-mart and I used to. I'll try to explain this. It has to do with the Store Manager. Those who just want to get rid of the stuff mark it way down. However, people like our store manager don't care how long it sits there as the more he sells the bigger his profit sharing check is. Basically its based on greed! ![]()

We have many targets in my area, charlotte, NC and most every store has different prices. Once I asked and they do not price match others so I left my cart there (baby food 12 cents difference is alot of $$) and will only shop at the ones I know the prices are cheaper.

I live in Nashville and there are two Target stores off of the same interstae - two exits apart - about 3 miles form each other. One store is ALWAYS higher than the other. I first noticed that the Target brand of baby formula was $2 more a can at the newer Target. The other day, I went to see if they had a toddler Halloween costume I wanted (NOT on clearance) since my Target did not have my size. They had it but it was $14.99 instead of $12.99. They are 3 miles apart. How does corporate justify that? This is not on clearance items - just regular full price items. I was SO mad.
