How to save 10% on your purchase without having a Target credit card

Do you want to earn points for a 10% shopping pass without signing up for a Target credit card? Sign up for the Target Checkcard. Using a Target Checkcard is the same thing as using your own debit card because its linked to your bank account. The reason this is so popular is because every dollar you spend goes towards a 10% off shopping day pass. You receive 1 point for every $1 you spend~~when you reach 1000 points Target sends you a 10% off shopping pass to use within 30 days. The shopping pass can be used all day long which will come in handy if you shop between several different Target stores.

With the Target Checkcard, you also get the Pharmacy rewards and you can take advantage of the Take Charge of Education and 1% of your purchases goes towards a school of your choice.

You can apply at any Target store with a blank check or you can download the application and send via snail mail.
Download here: Target Checkcard App to mail

Read more about the card here: Target Card Comparisons

One downfall is that it may take several days (usually 3-4) for the transaction to post to your bank account. while most regular debit cards post transactions immediately. This delay also occurs when you return an item.

FAQ about using the Target Generator Coupons

Where can I find the Target Coupon Generator on AFC?
At the top of the page click on "Coupons", then click on "Target Coupon Generator"

Where do the Target Coupons come from?
The Target Coupons are generated from Target.com's website. Target generally posts new coupons ever other week (this is an estimate). If AFC's Generator is not updated and you wish to access the coupons quickly visit Target.com, scroll down to the bottom and in small print you will see "Grocery Coupons"...or sometimes I've seen it "SuperTarget Grocery Coupons".

How often is AFC's Target Coupon Generator updated?
This is not an exact science. There are only a select few who update our Generator. Please be patient. Our team is very busy and we all volunteer our time on this site. The Generator is usually updated by midweek when new coupons come out.

Can you use SuperTarget Coupons at a regular Target?
Yes - if the products are carried by the regular Target.

Is there a limit on the number of Target Coupons you can use in one transaction?
YMMV. This seems to differ based on the store you are shopping at. I have never had a problem with coupon limits at any of my stores that I shop at, however, others have. It is up to the store manager if they choose to limit a consumer's coupon usage.

If I am purchasing 5 of the same item, do I need to print out multiple coupons or can I just use one?
You must have one coupon for each item purchased.

Can I use a Target Coupon and a MFG coupon on the same item?
Yes. example: I recently purchased 6 jars of skippy peanut butter using (6) $.75 target coupons and (3) $1/2 mfg coupons making them around $.39 a jar.

I have problems printing~when I hit the cancel button nothing happens
Some people have been successful by clicking the "refresh" button. YMMV~This issue is sometimes specific for each user based on what program they're using.

If I need more coupons during my trip can i get them in the store?
Yes, you can go to the kiosk at customer service and access them directly from Target's website. You will only find the coupons posted for that week, not for weeks prior.

How to print Target Coupons from the kiosk in the store

In the guest service area you'll find the registry kiosks. The kiosk will ask if you want to search a registry or visit Target.com. Choose the Target.com option.

On the target homepage, scroll all the way down. There are 4 columns: The REDcards, Target Stores, Company Info, and Help. In the column for Target stores is a link to SuperTarget Coupons + Specials. Click on that link.

"Clip" the coupons you want and then print the clippings. Or print all. You can usually hit Print over and over and it will spit out many copies - usually on blue paper. You can either carry scissors with you to cut these out or just use a shelf in the store to tear along the edges.

How to use Target rainchecks to your advantage

Most people know that when an item advertised for sale is out of stock you can usually ask a store for a rain check. Then, when the item is stocked again, even if the sale has gone off, you can buy it for the sale price noted on your rain check.

At Target it gets even better. Look at the following actual rain check from Target.

Do you see that wording at the bottom of the rain check?

CHOOSE A SUBSTITUTE

Choose a substitute and get the same % off
on a similar, regular-priced item
(i.e. doll for doll, shirt for shirt).
Some exclusions apply.

(Some rain checks do not have the "choose a substitute" wording on them which obviously means you can't substitute an item.)

So in this example, the item is a blanket - regularly $44.99 on sale for $36.99 (18% off). Since they don't have the blanket, a rain check is available and you can then choose a different blanket (perhaps the one you *really* wanted) and get it on sale!

There are a couple of ways to actually get a rain check. Many times if an item is out of stock a team member has already placed a tearpad of rain check slips on the shelf by the item's location. You simply tear one off and hand it to any cashier and let them know how many of the item you want the rain check for. The slip is already coded for the item. (Do NOT just take that tearpad slip home and think you have a rain check! You have to trade it in for the actual rain check.) This is obviously the most convenient method.

If a rain check slip is not available, you can write down the DPCI numbers and have an associate look up the information to print your rain check. There are 9 digits in the DPCI number in format of XXX-XX-XXXX. You can also enter this number into the self-serve scanners in Target and it will tell you if there are any more of the items in the stock room that haven't been put out. Guest Services keeps a book called "The Black and White" that is updated each week with the sales ad. It has a picture of each item on sale and the DPCI number next to it for quick look-up. However, if you want a specific size, color, or flavor of something, I suggest you get the actual DPCI number from the shelf for that particular item. Guest Services can't always look up that specific information. You will be able to substitute different sizes/colors/flavors, but having the specific one you want will make it easier on you. (Keep this in mind for diaper sizes, etc.)

How can you use this information to your advantage? Well, let's take my recent shopping trip as an example. I needed to buy a birthday gift for a little girl. She likes Dora and ponies. I happen to find a Dora toy WITH a pony and thought it was perfect. But it was a little pricey and not on sale. So I looked around the aisle and found another toy in a similar price range that WAS on sale and (oh darn!) was out of stock. I grabbed a rain check slip and headed to a cashier to get my raincheck. I then proceeded to hand the rain check back to the cashier with the toy I wanted and said "I'd like to substitute this item since you don't have any of these right now and I need this item for a party today." Voila! I just got 15% off of my purchase for an item that wasn't even on sale!

When the cashier scans the rain check, the cash register will automatically search for an item that it thinks is suitable for substitution. If you have many items in your cart, you may or may not agree with the item that it picks. You can of course discuss this with a cashier and they can manually apply the discount to another item. YMMV of course on how this will be handled.

Any items listed in the sales ad that specifically say "no rain checks" will obviously not be allowed a rain check. If you really want that specific item however, you can still have Guest Services look it up for you and tell you what other stores in your area may have some in stock. It's not always completely accurate as it takes a while for the system to update when something is sold.

Most stores will not allow rain check substitutes on anything in the electronics department (like TVs or Cameras), but it could vary per store. It doesn't hurt to try or ask. You can usually do it for electronic games, DVDs, videos, etc. This can be a huge savings opportunity for newer items that don't normally go on sale!

Rain checks are good for 45 days. Next time you are in Target and see a little tearpad of rain check slips - grab one and trade it in at the register. It won't hurt to hang on to it - you never know when you just might need a similar item. Someone may even want to trade you for it!

For some examples as to how other members are using this substitution option, check out this thread: http://www.afullcup.com/upload/targe...advantage.html

Trial Sizes

If you have a mfg coupon with no size restrictions you may be able to get trial size products for free. It's entirely a YMMV situation. Some stores will not adjust the coupon down (even though the coupon policy indicates that this should happen), while others have no problem adjusting the coupon thus resulting in you getting the trial size product for free.

Some of the trial sizes currently at Target may include any of the following:

Axe body spray .99
Axe Bodywash .99
Advil .97
Aleeve .97
All Small & Mighty .99 or 1.00
Arm and Hammer Body Wash, purple (glacial freeze or something) .99
Arm and Hammer deodorants .99
Caress Body Wash .99
Clearasil Morning Burst Face Wash .99
Cottonelle Wipes on the go .99
Crest Health Pro-rinse .99
Degree and Dove deodorants for .97 and .99
Downy single loads .99
Gillette shave gel silver and blue can .99
Got 2 B spiked up gel .99
Huggies wipes .99
J&J Q Tips .99 cents
Magic Eraser .48
Olay Quench Lotion .99
Pull-Up kid wipes in purple pkging .99
Purell sanitizing hand wipes .99
Reach Access Flossers .99
Renu Multi Purpose Contact Solution 1.00
Scope Peppermint and Spearmint mouthwash .49
Secret Sparkle vanilla spray for women .99
Secret Deodorant .99
St. Ives Lotion .99
Suave for men Shampoo/Conditioner 2 in 1 .49
Suave Cocoa Butter w/shea lotion .97
Tide (4 load bottle size) I think this was .99 also
Tide single loads .99
Tylonel .97

If you find something different at your target store, please submit the information to a moderator so we can keep this post current.

How can I receive Target Coupons in the mail? & Price Adjustments

How do I get Target coupons in the mail?

Unfortunately, there is no clear cut way of receiving Target coupons in the mail. Rumor has it that one way is by signing up at Target.com and creating an account there. Another rumor is by having a Target RedCard or the new Target Debit Card. You also may be more likely to receive Target coupons in the mail when you sign up for a wedding and/or baby registry.

PRICE ADJUSTMENTS

Except for clearance items, you may take your receipt to guest service for price adjustments. You have 7 days to do so.

Issues that are YMMV when you shop at Target

All of these issues are entirely YMMV when you shop at Target. You should speak with a manager before your shopping trip to determine what your store policy will allow.

~Accepting expired mfg and/or expired Target coupons
~Accepting IP (internet printed) coupons
~Limiting the number of coupons per transaction
~Limiting the number of items you're purchasing per transaction

Overage at Target

We've had many reported posts about this topic lately, so we just want to let you know our stance on the topic.

1. Overage is not policy at Target. However, you may get it.
2. If you get it, consider it a gift.
3. Do not *expect* overage.
4. You may post here if you got overage.
5. Don't tell people they *will* get overage.
6. Don't complain because someone else got overage.
