| 5 q's per purchase?
Was at target last night getting emergency cough drops with my $1/2 coupon, and I was chatting with the register lady about people who can really use coupons to get their purchase cost down. The lady told me that she avoids people like that and only lets them use 5 coupons per purchase so they don't take advantage of the store. Is that part of their policy?? I couldn't find it, but it intimidated me to go back into target with more than 5 coupons! I don't consider it taking advantage of the store when these are product manufacture coupons. |

She made that up. The store makes 8 cents for each coupon the take. Its good business to accept coupons, moves product which increases the stores numbers. I'm sure the store mgr would be surprised she is making stuff up to save the store :) |

Most of the Targets east of Atlanta have a 3 like coupon policy, the one by the Mall of GA used to say 10 total coupons (MQ or TQ) but it has been almost a year since I've gone into that one so don't know if that is still in force.

I've never heard that before and I shop Target a good bit. Although, just like any store, there are a good many cashiers that are very rude to people using coupons. I try to avoid them as much as possible but sometimes it's nearly impossible. If a cashier is giving you a hard time about it, ask for a manager.

Some managers say it is at there descretion to accept however many coupons they want per day. I've argued my point since basically they are only allowing me to buy what they feel I need, so my thought behind that is if I wasn't using coupons would I be allowed to buy however many I needed? I consider myself to be a paying customer just like everyone else regardless if I use coupons or not, is that not correct?

The Target closest to me changes their mind about their limits almost every time I go. First they told me it was 3 like Target coupons, then it was 4 like any kind of coupon, then sometimes it's however many you want to use. Lately I've just been driving further to go to a different Target or going to one by my grandma's house when I go to visit her.

It sounded to me like she was just bitter about when people come in with a lot of coupons and that she personally didn't want people to get away with using coupons. I'm glad I didn't have more coupons because I would have felt stupid if she turned me away! I should probably brush up on their store policy more next time. Sounds like each target makes up their own policy.

While each Target may set their own coupon policy, even though there's a corporate policy in place, it's a fact that no cashier is allowed to set his/her own policy! Perhaps inquire with management next time you're there? As for choosing coupon-friendly cashiers, my Target has such a high turnover rate that I rarely see the same cashier twice! Also, they are never male. 20something, if you're new to couponing, just realize that some cashiers, some managers, and even some stores are hostile toward couponers! It's most likely nothing you're doing wrong, so don't feel bad!

Yeah, she definitely can't just make up whatever rules she feels should be in place! I would definitely ask for a manager if that happens again. It's up to the managers to set policies within their discretion about how many coupons people are allowed to use, but they HAVE to let you use one TQ and one MQ per item. The total number of coupons, or 'like' coupons, or duplicate Target coupons... sadly that will vary from store to store. One of my stores recently put the policy of one 'like' Target coupon per guest, because of the fallout from those paper towel q's a while back. Another store is VERY un-coupon friendly and I had a manager tell me that I couldn't use (2) coupons for (2) packs of gum, because the coupons said 'do not double'. I have 2 other stores that are Jedi stores and let me do whatever I want (except for one specific cashier that I avoid like the plague). I HATE going to a new store if I have to for any reason, because you just never know what will happen if you do. So annoying! Anyway my point is, ask for a manager. And if you feel that you're being picked on, call corporate, preferably while you're still in the store. :)

It's a good thing that cashiers don't really get to set the rules, isn't it?

There is a little disclaimer on the back of the flyer stating that the store can limit quantities ! ( do not know if it means quantity of items or q) Also ,on TQ it states one per transaction .... Are you upset when a fellow couponer breaks the rule of more than one tq per transaction ,or only when the store sets a different rule for the number of q than can be used? I read a lot of people mentioning calling corporate when the store doesn't follow the policy !!! But when it means that someone got a fantastic deal by using 20 of the same tq in one transaction ,everybody is clapping !!! You can't have it both way ! |

It just irritates me when cashiers act like the money comes out of their pocket. And that the store will not make its money back. UGH what is wrong with strategically using coupons? Coupons are there for us to use? So what is the problemmmmmm? Ahhh |

I used to be very understanding of cahsiers that act this way (having been a cashier for target, thank God I work in the pharmacy now!!!) but now I don't put up with it. Cahsiers that work at MY store and KNOW me give me a long hard look sometimes. And I'm by no means an extreme couponer. I've started reporting them when they make snide comments, I don't care if they are a coworker or not, I don't deserve to be treated that way... Guess I'm just bitter lately lol!
