So, ya know how stop and shop has their gas promotion?? Well, I drove to the gas station the other day almost on fumes because I had $.40 off a gallon coming to me and needed it badly. This gas station is pretty far (considering I have like 10 gas stations within a mile or 2 of my house) but it's the closest stop and shop gas station around!! Anyway - long story shortened - I scanned my card and nothing happened to the price. So I pumped my gas thinking maybe it came off at the end or something and... NOTHING!! So I only put $30 in because it was more expensive than all the other stations I go to. Anyway - I go up to the attendant and I asked him what I did wrong and he said nothing - the gas rewards weren't working and they should have them fixed later that night (well what good would that do me now that I already pumped my gas). So I had a bad day and this was the end of it - I of course wrote to Corporate about the whole thing and that there should have been signs up at each pump. Anyway - I got a call from corporate telling me that they handled it incorrectly, that I was right about the signs being posted at the pumps, and that they let that store know and I'd receive another call from the store manager. I didn't, but I did get a $20.00 gift card!!!

SOOOO - I go today to get a couple of things and use the card. I was looking at the ground turkey and one was on sale but then I saw another one that was a different brand but the same EXACT thing in a larger size for cheaper. I of course picked that one up which was $2.69. I scanned it using the hand gun thing and it rang up as $2.99 - whatever I had things to get and I'd talk to them when I got up to the register. So I told the guy I think it rang up wrong and he said ok I'll take it off and correct the price - and then - THANKS TO AFC - I asked him about the policy where if the price does not scan correctly then it was free and he just said YUP! LOL - so I found it funny that if I hadn't known the policy I would have had a price adjustment and been happy with that. But because someone on here mentioned it once i got my turkey for FREE!!!! I love the hand gun thing because now I can see the prices as I put it into my cart. Before I was too busy loading my groceries onto the table thing or bagging to pay enough attention.

So stop and shop is still the place for me. They did right with the gas situation and the price accuracy. Make sure to always check the prices!! WHAT'S BETTER THAN FREE???

what hand gun thing? Is this available in NY?

I don't think its available everywhere. It's in RI and I use it everytime now. If you have it, its right when you walk in to the doors. You scan your card and it lights up and you take it and then scan the stuff as you go and bag it in your cart. When you go to check out everything is stored on the handgun thing so you don't have to unload your cart again. You just scan the barcode at the register and all your stuff pulls up on their register and you give them your coupons and pay and your done. But it's a way of seeing the prices when you put them in your cart rather than while they scan it and your busy. Ya know??

wow I wish they had itin CT stores...maybe soon?

TuppermomCT, I have one in my store, but the 3 others that are within a 15 min drive don't have them. They are really easy once you get the hang of it. If you get picked for a rescan its only a few items they check.

I wonder how they picked the stores?
