ok, so just wanted to see what all afc'ers would say at there stockpile sale as to why, how, where all the stuff came from? i would say i just got to much of the items i put out and they would say wow how much do you have???

I have Only Sold Some Of my stockpile ONCE at a Yard sale and ALL OF IT WENT, No questions or anything.

I just tell them I use coupons. A LOT of people asked. Some believed me, some didn't. I have found that it doesn't really matter if you tell them you use coupons. Likely, they won't undertake doing it themselves and will instead ask when your next sale is!!!

thanks! i live in a VERY small town and everybody has to know everybody Else's business, i just really did not know what to say when i had my sales this year! and i plane on my sales next year being ALOT more, as it is one of my ways to help with a income in the summer time.

I tell everyone that asks that I like to coupon, it is my hobby. One man said don't you mean addiction. I told him no I meant hobby if it was an addiction it would not be out here for them to buy.

, i found if i said i got it from couponing people would try to get me to take less for it! so i started saying that i dont like paying the price here in my town to get it and in the long run got to much! and in this town people would look down at me when i did say i got it from couponing and they would sigh at me and roll there eyes , i just wanted to say get over yourself for thinking that your better then me because i coupon, shut up and enjoy the savings!

I live in a VERY small town too (population 700), but the people that came to my sale were THRILLED with what they got. No one tried to bargain with me. I am OVER people judging me. If they look down on me, then probably don't know me!

Thanks for the good laugh. Your "small town" is a city to me!!!! I live in a small town...I would say about 65. We have a bar (what town dosn't?) a tiny post office and 3 huge companies. More people work here than live here We have 2 streets......so when your out for a walk you don't have a whole lot of options.

I had a stockpile sale and people are like you are crazy for selling this stuff so cheap (It was my first sale and I thought I had marked some of it high). What they didn't know is that I got it FREE or next to nothing. I just stated that when I find a good deal I like to pass it on to others Needless to say, nothing left at end of sale and made a ton of money!!!!

I want to have a sale so bad but I'm terrified b/c almost everyone in my small town receives food stamps (not judging - been there) but I'm scared to have a sale b/c people might think I got the stuff free from food stamps and I don't want to get in trouble even though I know I didn't use food stamps to get them - KWIM? Any suggestions - probably flea market would be next best thing to a yard/community sale huh?

Ya good luck with that one. I get wic (women, infants and children) for my 2 youngest. When I had my sale, I had 2 people actually accuse me of selling food I got FREE. First of all, 1 only gets some formula and I wasn't selling any formula, and second all of the cereal I was selling (because I had accumulated like 200 boxes) were the sugary types....fruit loops, cinnamin toast crunch, etc. Last time I checked you got healthy stuff from Wic. One said she was going to turn me in. I told her I was innocent and would even dial the phone number for her. She walked off mumbling and I never heard any more about it. hehehehe and she did buy 3 boxes of cereal.

Some people just don't have anything better to do than to gripe and complain about others. It irritates the crud outta me!!! UGGHH

I think it's too funny she bought cereal from you - she was just mad b/c she didn't find the GREAT deals you did! tee hee!

When I sold some stockpile, I was too nervous to sell it in my own area, so I hauled it up to my mother's who lives in a much bigger city. Even then, I only put out a few bottles of everything at one time, so it didn't look like so much. If someone came up to the register and looked interested in more I asked if they found everything they needed or were they looking for anything else? If they were receptive, I let them know I had more and could bring it out. I sold a ton of stuff! I was happy, my mom thought I was nuts for having it all in the first place, and customers got a good deal over what they would pay in the store.

I actually went to a garage sale yesterday (They did NOT advertise "new Items"). Just kids stuff.

My mom and I go into the sale.... Double car garage and ALL of it was filled with stockpiled items. (actually looked like my stock pile ).

A couple ladies were behind us coming up the driveway. The one says outloud.. "Oh great... another sale where couponers get everything for free and then sell the items for a too big of a profit"). I just looked at my mom and couldn't believe she yelled it.

My mom asks the ladies running the sale where all her "kids" stuff was. She points to the corner where there is maybe 10 items. (compared to over 1000 new items). I asked her why advertise just kids stuff if she was selling her stockpile stuff. She told me that if she just advertised a stockpile sale she didn't think people would come. She knew kids' items were popular so she advertised that instead. And she laughed! That is so deceitful.


I will say her prices were too cheap. The only thing I didn't like was she kept bragging to everyone about her deals and how she "cleans out Walgreens and Target every week". Turned a lot of people off, including me. Heck she is probably the one that beats me every week. Haha.

I have had several stockpile/garage sales. I set up tables of all my garage sale (used household stuff) in my driveway and then in my garage on shelves I have all my "stockpile" stuff! That way I appeal to both groups, those wanting just garage sale finds and then also those needing help with bargains on everyday needs such as food, health/beauty stuff, etc. If anyone asks me where I get all the stockpile stuff, I tell them the truth, I'm an avid "couponer" and with the bad economy, I stockpile for my family and then pass along all the extras so everyone else can benefit from my good deals! A few people will laugh condescendingly, but most are thrilled with the bargains and a large amount have become regulars! I shake off those that "look down" on it, they aren't worth the time or effort. I look at it this way, whose more foolish, the person who saves and takes care of their family and is a good steward with the money God gives them, or the person who throws away money and looks at others with disdain? I think we all know the answer to THAT question!! Hold your head up high, my fellow couponers, and do what you have to do to help your family!! COUPONS ROCK!!
