I had a great garage sale on Saturday. Did more than I thought, which proved my dh very very wrong. Which I think made it even better. I sold over 2/3 of everything that I had.

So...I guess my question is at this point now what? I have my stockpile of my own for things I need. I discussed donating some things 2 my dh and even though it was either free or really really cheap he's not sure that he wants 2 donate it. He's not a bad guy really!!!

For example of have A LOT of cleaning supplies that did not sell, like 2 clothes baskets full. I know I paid a quarter a piece for them. He says by donating them instead of selling them that it will end up costing us money???

I DO want 2 donate some things 2. We have a women's shelter I KNOW needs things and I'm going 2 send some stuff 2 a soldier overseas through my child's daycare.

You also have 2 understand that we are in a different situation than most. I can't drive, I'm mostly disbled and use a wheelchair 2 get around. I'm also using oxygen so I'm attached 2 that. So with all that it gives me little freedom.

So I guess my question is...really what is the next step?? Donating? Selling it on Craig's list? Any other ideas u have or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much

I'd try to Craigslist a basketful for one set price. I bet a fleamarket seller wil buy the whole lot. Costs nothing to list on Craiglist!

I've never done craigslist, but seems like a pain to me since if you get a ton of different responses then they all have to come to your house and they may be no shows or whatever. I guess you could try it, but it might turn out to be more of a hassle. I would suggest donating some stuff. You can get something from them so you can write the donation off as tax deduction (I think) and the value of the products would be considered more than $.25 a piece. Depending on what the stuff is, you can keep it and build up a stockpile again for another garage sale. You never know what's going to sell next time (maybe lower the prices a little on the things you didn't sell this time).

I'd love to hear from someone who hsa sold on Craigslist. How do you do it?? Have you had success??

when i sell on craigs list, i just leave the stuff in a bag on my sunporch along with an envelope for them to leave their $ in and slip under the rug. that way #1 i am not waiting around all day for someone to maybe show up, and #2 there are some weirdos out there, so i don't have to actually meet anyone. i have never had anyone stiff me. i am in a little town and i have people drive here from a large city about 15 miles away on a regular basis to buy the stuff i sell. i have the best luck if i list all the items i have and how much i want for each thing then they send me back a list of what they would like and i give them a total beofre they come so they have exact change. i have sold hundreds of dollars worth of coupon freebies.

I have sold a lot of stuff on Craigslist. I dont give my address out until the day they are supposed to come and get the items. ****Some ppl are very wierd so I always make sure whatever I'm selling is in the garage, and I NEVER LET THEM IN THE HOUSE.

Donate to goodwill and use as a tax write off for next year's taxes.

Have another garage sale and sell what didn't sell! That's what I'm doing.

Craigslist and freecycle.
