I think I am out of control with this whole stockpiling thing........ I can't seem to stop going to the store to get more goodies! Some are really good deals to me (.50 and below) while others aren't that great. When is enough enough????? |

I think enough is enough when you start asking!! Maybe you should sit back..take a look at what you have...make a list of things you need and/or want and try to cut back on the "extras" It happens to us all!

Also, if you like to shop and get a high from getting things free you could start selling some of your stockpile to friends, family and co workers..

Yes it's time to sit back and relax for awhile...LOL!! Great deals will always be around. You can wear yourself out trying to go here, there, and yonder to get in on the great deals. I had to take some time and relax, because I started to act like people on crack.... If I saw a coupon, I got a high....ROFLOL!! If there was a coupon for it, I thought I had to run right out and get in on the deals before they were out....And most of the time all I had to do was ask for a raincheck.....I was so tired all of the time, and wondered why..,.. ![]() Especially with the CVS deals. It's one about two miles up the road from me, and I didn't care how early I got up on Sunday morning to get in on the deals, they were gone. The manager told me most of the time, couponers strike at the stroke of midnight to get the deals, and they wipe out the deals. So I just started to wait and go in for the deals in the middle of the week, and finally I'm able to get the deals without having to fight through the crowd. So just enjoy what you have, and if you really need it, go out and buy it. Sometime I have to wait until my family eat's some of the thing's I purchase, because I don't want to waste food. You will be just fine....I've been where you are, you will get over it...Have a blessed day.... |

Yep, I'm the same way! Though I have started spreading the "wealth"! I have a friend who's hubby is out of work, and another who's family owns a restaurant and they're really just scrapping by (it's a mom and pop type place) and then my own siblings. I just mailed my sister a box so full that it cost me 15.00 to ship it! BUT.. it's fun and I know it helps them and seriously.. how many airwicks can one house have?!!

I agree with most everyone that we all went through it when we got started. I know I did. I really was a "hardcore CVS chick" and then finally took a step back and got a handle on myself. Now I pay attention to what we are really going to use quickly, or get low on or what have you. Like right now I know, no matter what, I have enough toothpaste to keep a village out of the dentist's chair for a good while, but I know I need toothbrushes. So I am on the lookout. Or I am knowing the guys have gone through a lot of "manly" body wash so I have my eyes peeled for the next good deal on that. On food stuff's, three young adults eat a lot so I almost cannot overdo that. LOL! And I agree, if you relax and don't make it to this week's deal, I promise, the next one will come around after that. I had to learn to make it a little more fun and not stressful!

| Right now. You're entering into hoarding. If you like the thrill of couponing and saving money, this is a good thing. Find a cause to do it for. Promise yourself you'll donate 50% of what you buy to a local shelter, a church pantry, a neighborhood group, the family or single mom or dad next door who lost her/his job and has to feed several kids, etc. Send some to the soldiers overseas. Make it worthwhile and it won't be hoarding. It will be energy put into a doing something positive for others. |

I donate all of my extra bath products to the local battered womens shelter. They always look forward to my visits. The last time I donated several hundred dollars of free or almost free stuff. It was a great feeling. We have a another great place to donate called "The Other Bank" that gives away household products. I also rotate my stock of food and donate stuff that is close to going out of date. Try moving your stockpile 2,000 miles. I used paper towels and TP to pad delicate things, it was really funny on the other end when we unpacked. We needed these as soon as we moved in, it was a real incentive to unpack! I also have other things I am not allowed to buy until the stock runs low. LOL. The deals will always be there for you. |

Thanks for all of the replies!! I do donate some of the food to the food pantry at my church. Sometimes I buy with them specifically. On the other hand, last night my DH was joking because I have enough dishwashing liquid for 5 years..... I think I am going to take a break or come up with some ground rules, like no excessive buying unless under a certain amt.

I offer to friends and family. I also sell at the area fleamarket to bring in extra money. First and foremost though I take care of my family. My one item that I don't need for the next 5 years is Bounty paper towels. I got them for .14 for two rolls. I literally have 150 rolls. |

I just started as well and have gotten a little out of control. All I can think about is the deals. I think I need to step back as well and be maybe a little more "picky" about what I buy!!

Definitely donate... especially the toiletries... I know my local food bank never has enough of the non-food stuff. And for someone on food stamps with very little income, there IS no money for non-food stuff.

I feel the same, love the deals, but I am done stockpiling until I go shopping, I love these coupons and all the savings, I have so much stuff that I will not have to buy anything until my 13 yr old leaves for college. I have made the decision to stop shopping and only get what I need which isn't much. I tell people that ask me about coupons, 1st that they have to check out this site, and 2nd it is addictive so be careful. only thing I need right now is for Kmart to get the Clip on bug things good luck to all of you fellow addicted couponers, maybe we should start at support group lmao

As I get more of something, I keep raising the bar for how good of a deal it has to be. Like right now, I will only buy cereal if it is free or a money maker, but I will buy canned tomatoes even if they are only a decent deal, because I'm almost out. Also, if I can get something for free and I know someone who can use it or somewhere I can donate it, I always pick it up. Diana |

DONATE!!! When you realize you've got so much more than you need, it's a great feeling to give some of it to someone else who doesn't have much. The "high" of getting huge amounts of goodies for free is great. But the "high" from giving huge amounts away can be even better. Try dropping off a giant box of toiletries and hygeine products to your local homeless shelter or womens shelter and see the look on their faces. You'll be so glad you did it. Or send a few "care packages" out to the troops. Or give your extra food items to the food pantry. If you have kids, it's a great family project to do together and gives you an opportunity to talk to the children about generosity, giving, gratitude, etc. Maybe frugality too (if they don't already hear that enough... )

I wonder the same thing sometimes, but since I have quit smoking and I am spending alot less money on stockpiling than I was on cigarettes, plus I get tons of excersize while I'm out, I use that to justify it for now |
