| My Itty Bitty Stockpile
I just joined the Serious Stockpilers group because I do want to get serious. I am a "stockpiler" wannabe, a newbie. So to motivate me and to ask you all to help cheer me on I'm going to post my "itty bitty" stockpile pics. Here goes:   All in all I have 2 Electrasol and 2 Cascade purchased for 0.25-0.50 each. I have 2 Ajax (0.25 each) and 1 Palmolive (0.25) I have 8 shampoos purchased for $1 or less and these are top brands Pantene & Tresemme 2 of the Pantenes I got for 0.21 OOP. So most were pennies. I also have 6 toothpastes and 2 Kotex. It's a start right? Give me your tips.

You should be very proud of yourself! My "stockpile" as of right now (very new myself) consists of four shampoos/conditioners, six shaving gels and 10 frozen veggies. It makes me happy...and I'm sure I'll just get "happier" as it grows. Great job!!

This is how we all start out. Before you know it, your stockpile will be over grown and you will be running out of space. Trust me. I just started in August of 2008 and now I have no idea where I am going to put one more tube of toothpaste or one more meter!!

Congrats! Good start! 1. Get some more coupons going...buy a few extra inserts and become a coupon hunter when you are out shopping! Look for tear pads, peelies, booklets at the service desk, etc--- 2. Get a shelf in a room somewhere so you can SEE your stockpile, it's more fun that way--- 3. Remember to only "stockpile" an item at ROCK BOTTOM price, Money Making deal or Free...even paying a couple cents of tax on free stockpile items adds up like crazy fast! I won't even consider taking away free toothpaste anymore, unless it's a MONEY MAKING deal. For example it costs $3, and it gives a $3 ECB or RR---and I have a $1 off coupon. Then I have made a dollar to put towards something else. But even "free" toothpaste has no home at my home! They give it away ALL the time. In a few months you'll begin to see what is always free or silly cheap so you won't spend on those items at all. I pretty much don't spend on anything. I was forced to buy black yard waste trash bags yesterday without a coupon or sale and almost had a conniption fit spending $6. Literally, it made me feel sick. Couponing is a disease. I agree with MMS... the toothpastes... omg... they will come out your ears! I have only been doing it collecting 1-2 a week at respective stores and holy carp! I had a good friend tell me that a good stockpile number to have is the number of members of your family + 1. So for us that is 6. Any given item, coupon, insert... I try for at least 6 of. More if I can get them free! This week I think I have purchased 60 boxes of cereal but that is because I have been advised that this deal only comes around 1-3 times a year! So... I stocked up! Pick a target number... for us our target is to have a 6 month stock pile. That means a LOT of stuff... we have three kids and 20 boxes of pop tarts lasts maybe a month. I know people think I am hoarding when I check out at stores but I cannot bring myself to pay $5 for a box of premium mac n cheese anymore! Plus I detest going to fix dinner and being OUT of one ingredient... ugh. ~Keep in mind that I do stockpile for two families... ours- family of 5 and my parents- family of 3 ( I have younger sister who is still living at home ). My parents have been dirt poor as long as I can remember and that is how I grew up. They nearly cry every time I bring a box of detergent, soap, toothpaste and deodorant. I know they must feel guilty allowing me, their daughter, to provide for them... but I am able to ... so I do.~

One more tip, is find out what store in your area does double coupons. I have a Pick N Save that does it every Wednesday. Then Kmart sporadically.
