| How do you organize your stockpile so that everything is easily accessible and that you rotate new items to the back? |

I use two methods. I have a rolling can rack for my canned goods. The oldest cans roll to the front and are used first. For other things that sit on a shelf, the organization is more complex. If things can be placed in rows, the new product goes in the row on the left, use the product in the row on the right. Every row moves to the right as things are used up. Hard to put into words. I wish I could show you. My cereal boxes are stacked. Use what is towards the bottom first. If you have a large stockpile, date everything. Things always get out of order.

| Actually, I can envision it. Where did you get your racks for your canned goods? |

DH built them. They are built just like regular wood shelves are built with 2X4s and plywood, but the spacing between each shelf is the diameter of a large can of peaches. The front of the shelves is 3 inches lower than the back of the shelves with a length of quarter round across the front to keep the cans on the shelf. We used small moulding to separate lines of cans for each kind of product we use. The shelving sits perpendicular to the wall in the storage room. When I add new product, I add to the back of the unit. We eat food from the front of the unit. ![]() HTH |

Fifo = first in first out. Always add the new food/product to the back of the line and move the older food upfront so its used, not wasted.
