I'm trying to figure out how to BEST store things like flour, sugar, cake mix, oatmeal, etc. Seems that some say to keep them in plastic storage bins, others say to keep them in the freezer.

What happens to sugar when it's in the freezer? does it get wierd?

I want to keep out all creepy crawly things! bugs & rodents.

I googled about the sugar and it says to store granulated sugar in air tight container in a cool/dry* place, not freezer.* I personally store my flour, oatmeal , beans ect. in plastic containers, and have yet to find creepy crawly things in mine.

Freezing things like pasta mixes, baking mixes, and flours, etc will kill the bugs. It depends on how fast you rotate through things as to whether or not you risk getting critters in them on the shelf.

I store pancake mixes, flours in the fridge don't have a problem. I use a air tight container for sugar.

I freeze flour for a week then store in a rubbermaid tub, sugar here goes pretty fast I store it in a regular glass container and then a 2 gallon glass container also. I store the rest in a rubbermaid tote its to heavy to move but it works
