Hey all just some stockpiling tips hoping everyone can use.

I started stockpiling a couple years ago. I have about a years worth of HBA stuff and about 6 months of side dishes, condiments.

Tips.
-Of course stockpile according to sales/coupons.
-Join coupon trains or trade qs, buy multiple papers to gain more coupons to get more stuff for your stockpiles (or dig through the recycle bin to get some that was thrown out).
-Store dry beans, rice, flour, etc in air tight plastic containers to keep out bugs.
-If you run out of cupboard/closet space store your stuff in rubbermaid totes and label them. you can even keep them in a basement/garage this way without worrying about critters getting in.
-You can store flour, cake mixes, bread, buns, muffin mixes, in the freezer. My grandmother did this by saving bread bags and putting the boxes of cake mix and flour bags in these and tying them shut and keeping them in the freezer.
- Dont forget to check your dates and rotate your items.

I am very new to this, but I find everything very amazing! I can not wait to get other things stockpilled. I started very simple but I have enough toothpaste now to last about year.

You know what I worry about most? I have absolutely zero organizing capabilities when I NEED to be organized (I can organize the heck out of things that don't need organizing, though, !) So I worry that I'll just end up adding to my clutter problem. Wish me luck! And thanks for the tips!

you are welcome all and welcome all you newbies. Hope you all become AFC addicts like me Lots of great tips you can find on here. Its hard to keep up with your stockpile. Some people use spreadsheets like Excel to keep an inventory of their stockpile, I dont have time to do that. I hope you all have fun couponing and stockpiling! I didnt have a job in December for 3 weeks and that stockpile came in handy. I didnt have to go to the store for 2 weeks (could have went longer) with it.

I love this forum. I started stockpilling about 4 years ago. I'm on my last box of dish washer soap I have to say my pile has gone pretty low, but is coming back into full gear. I gave to much away, along with to many Q's. I have told myself no more. My DH has to put shelves up in the garage because there just is no more room in my house. We dont have large cupboards and our washer and dryer are in a room with the pantry. I'm still learning on reading the Q's right. I cant wait to get my stockpile looking good so i can take a picture

Thanks for tips one tip in food service we say first in first out on rotate.We date everything the date we put it in pantry also.These are things I learned in food service @ schools.So I try to do it @ home when the kids don't get a hold of stuff .Thank you for tips.

I also started when I put condiments in the refridgerator I write the date I opened them on it so I know how long they have been in there.

Great Tips!

I have a small section in my pantry...for items that getting closer to expiration date, so it reminds me, that I need to use soon.

Something I noticed lately---is sometimes, when stores have thier sales, that the paticular item may have a short shelf left. A major chain, recently had Kraft mayo ON Sale, but the expiration date was May of this year....I passed!

A lot of clearance stuff places put on sale are like that too. I always look at the date unles I know that it is going to be used right away.

This is so helpful! I am still new and trying to figure out how to get multiple coupons of what I want. I think the FSOT list may be a good place to look, right?
