Hey all you wonderful couponers and stockpilers! I love this site and I just love to look at all your stockpile picks *drool*. I just started couponing in Jan. and I LOVE it! My husband and I are both in college and are trying to buy a house soon ... that means every single penny counts! I don't have much room, but I would love to start some stock piles on the things that we use all of the time. Right now I have a small stock of toilet paper (YEAH free cottonelle!), but am interested in doing more.

I thought it would be a great idea if we could all post deals that we were going to take advantage of and stock up on. For example, this next week at Walgreens I am stocking up on Garnier shampoo ($2.99, - $2.00 store coupon, -$1.00 off garnier coupon (not sure which insert, I got 14 coupons on thecouponclippers.com))

I feel like I just never know when prices are just right to start stocking up on, but I know you guys are pros and you have it down to a science.

So what do you think? Could we maybe all help each other out here?

We kind of already have this. Although not all deals are in one spot. In each store thread it has a shopping list. This pairs the sales with the coupons and lets you know where the good deals are. I love seeing what everyone else has been.

Also something I did (not everyone can do this due to time, but Idont work or go to school or have kids so saving money is my job) I took all the adds from my area (even the ones that I don't go to often and wrote down all the prices of all the items in the ad (except for the ones I will never buy) I than organized this intoa price book type spreadsheet with a column for store, area (produce, meat, canned goods etc.), date, size, price, price per unit. That way after a month or so of doing this I got a pretty good idea on what was the best deals. This way when I making my shopping list I can go through and see what a reasonable price for this is.

Another way to do this is just go off your recepits and what you bought. This is way is ok but I just had too many places I was entering recepits so it didnt work out too good for me. Plus there were always those things that I wanted to get but never did because I didn't know if it was a good price for it or not. HTH

KH - what are you looking to buy this week? You will get an idea of what is a good price and what isn't the more practice you get. Just because you have a coupon for something doesn't mean the generic brand won't be cheaper, esp. if it is something you will need to use soon.

I save my reciepts.. so I know what prices are. I am also with Tootsie roll

I think the problem is that I have no practice- I have just been clipping here and there. When something looks like a good deal then I will buy it. Now that my DH has been laid off since Nov- it has become a necessity. I am learning though.
