My kids grew so fast that there wouldn't have been any way to know how many I needed in each size. They were both literally in the newborn size for maybe a week? It's unfortunate that I didn't coupon back then!!

Just remember that most stores will exchange diapers if they are the wrong size. So if you have left over 1s that are unopened, you should be able to exchange them for a bigger size!

But I think your list looks great!

Yes stores will exchange, I was even able to exchange huggies for pampers that were baby shower gifts because my son leaked through huggies.

All babies are so different....
Newborns we used about 300 diapers and we are in ones now. With my first like a PP said we were in 3's the longest.

Don't forget about Amazon were you can get 30% and then if you have a amazon y code get another 20% off. This is the best deal I have been getting and have stocked up for less that .08 per diaper, and that has been been for Pampers!!!

My son, who is now 22 months old (hard to believe) and was exactly to the oz the same as PP is wearing a 5 but only as extra protection. He could wear a 4 but I FEAR LEAKS! (one time I discretely left Sears wearing poop dripping down my arm and leg.). And ironically just like PP my niece was potty trained before she got into a size 4. (she will be 5 in April and weighs abt 3 lbs more than my DS at 31 lbs. Tiny little girl!). I think your list looks good with only one note to make. I know that as a person with no kids a diaper is a diaper but once you start handling about 12 a day you will begin to have a brand preference. My niece and nephew both used huggies and i changed their diapers all the time but once i had one of my own i started liking the pampers better. They just seem more comfy and they dont LEAK (as much). This may sound snobby but I would take those wags brand diapers back to that store so fast it isnt even funny. DH bought Kroger brand diapers once and i tried them for a couple of days just to see if the pampers were worth it AND THEY ARE! (in my opinion). I ended up taking the rest of the kroger diapers to daycare so they would get used but i wouldnt have to deal with them!

First of all, congratulations!
Personally, I don't recommend stockpiling diapers or wipes until the baby is born. I say this because we made that mistake in the beginning and found that some diapers fit weird, causing way too many midnight leaks and blowouts. Also, my son has very sensitive skin and many diapers and wipes caused rashes. It took a lot of trial and error to find diapers and wipes that he could tolerate.

If I may suggest a few things to stock up on before baby gets here..
baby hats, more baby hats and sleep gowns are great for no muss half asleep diapering
a weeks worth of preemie outfits (learned this the hard way) 8 1/2 lb baby was swimming in newborn clothes first few weeks...
onsies and sleep and plays
Lansinoh, lansinoh, lansinoh (even if you don't breastfeed, this is the stuff for just about everything)
Triple paste! Nothing compares for unexpected rashes
gripe water and mylecon for gas
baby tylenol
teething tablets
Baby Mum Mums teething crackers, teething happens sooner than you think

HTH

I stockpile diapers for my grandchildren, and I think your stockpile sounds great! As others have said, every baby is different, but my newest DGS is a month old and still in newborns. A newborn goes through lots of diapers, also, because they poop so frequently. So, you might want some more newborns.

so far it looks really great, but like PP said, every baby is different and they'll decide what brand they like best. my son was a little peanut when he was born 6 lbs 9oz and he wore newborns for almost 2 months, went through one box of size ones, then went right to twos. for some reason the newborns just fit him better than the 1's did (these were huggies). i am starting to stockpile diapers right now for my DD due in April and am stocking up mostly on 1s and 2s. i am waiting on some good diaper deals to bulid up my stockpile though!

NB size you'll need about 2 packs
size 1 probably about 2-3 packs
size 2 are good for several months
size 3 fit the longest

This has been for my small babies though. My daughter at 6 months is wearing 2's, but I just ordered a case of 3's from amazon for 16 something. My son will be 2 in march and wears 4's, also just ordered a case at amazon. Thing to think about though is some kids react to different brands, but like PP said you can exchange.

My son is 22 months old. At birth, he weighed 5 lbs 3 oz and came home at 5 lbs. I didn't stockpile any newborn or premie diapers, so I had to pay full price for premie diapers. He was in them for a few months. He is still on the small side at 22 lbs. He wear a size 5 diaper, but could probably get into a 4.

I think your stockpile looks good, but you never know how much the baby is going to weigh, but I agree that you should stockpile more larger sizes.

I was stockpiling pull ups and diapers at the same time if the price was good. I am currently stockpiling pull ups with the amazon code. I am able to get a 52 pack for about $10. I used to pay $10 in store for the 26 count.

Again, get larger sizes and you may want to think about pull ups too.

It depends alot on your baby what you will need. My daughter was in 1's and 3's the longest, and so far my son has been in 2's and 4's the longest. My daughter was 7 lbs 4 oz when born wore newborns for about 2 weeks, where my son who was 9 lb 14 oz wore newborns for about 2 days. It will all be trial and error when your baby is born.

Looks good but I would not buy anymore than what you have.
My daughter is 8 months and besides a few packs from when she was a NB, I have purchased all my diapers from Amazon. So far we have used-

Size 1- pack of 252
Size 2- pack of 228 (I actually only used 152 of these, I had purchased two boxes and sold 1 and the extra pack of 72 I did not use.)
Size 3- pack of 204 (I am halfway into my second box now)

So overall I really have not gone through a ton of diapers. I am not one of those who constantly change diapers, only when it gets significantly wet. I moved her into threes pretty quick and since I don't change her in the middle of the night since she has slept through the night she she was a newborn, and she is EBF so she only has a BM maybe once every 4-5 days, a big box lasts me about 2 months.

I have had six babies. I agree that size 3 is used most often. I found it helpful to have a box or two of size 1/2--not one half, but a size between one and two. I would not buy many of these, but for a week or two, they fit my baby just right.

I'm a grandmother who buys all her grandson's and his soon to be brother's diapers. Add me to the group who uses Amazon's subscribe and save and codes to save $$$. I just bought a box of newborn Pampers swaddlers - 84 for $7.00 and some change. You get 30% for the subscribe and save and 20% for the amazon code (which you can buy in bulk off Ebay). I generally buy size 6 Luvs (200+ size box) for $17.00 shipped!

The only other sale that has come close was when Walgreens had their BOGO and there was a $2.50 off coupon!

Congratulations!

Nortney, do you know if new codes have come out with expirations beyond 1/31?

Ok, so both my kids were preemies, and I had to count every pee and poop, so I ended up using about 1 jumbo package of diapers every 2-3 days, I went through about 15 Newborn packages with each child. I personally would stock up on more Newborn. But that's just me. :P and as a PP said, you'll definitely have a brand preference. DS was a Huggies boy all the way, and DD started in Pampers, which I loved for her, but when they changed to the Dry what ever crap it is, I had to switch her to Huggies too. I also think I find better deals on Huggies because of the higher dollar coupons available for Huggies. I pay no more than $3.50 for a Jumbo pack. (I do all my diaper shopping at RiteAid generally.)

I would stick with what you have so far, since every baby is different, as you can probably tell from previous posts. My son never even fit into the newborn size diapers- he wore size 1 the day he was born. However, he was 10 lb, 6 oz. He was not in ones for very long- maybe a month? At 3.5 months, we moved to size 3, and stayed there for a good 4 months. We are still in size 4, and he weighs about 21 lbs. He is long and skinny though.
