How do you use Chia Seeds?

Any ideas on how to use Chia Seeds?

I just bought some Black Chia Seeds from Amazon since hearig they had Omega 3's and Fiber, but it had no doseage
on the label or how to prepare it. Use a Tablespoon a day in H20 & wait for it to thicken to drink.
Not bad- it is like swallowing tasteless black fish eggs.

According to Pinterest you can toss a couple tsp into whatever you're making, even food. I haven't tried them, though.

I use them in my protein shakes or I make a snack that is plain greek yogurt, granola, fruit and maple syrup and I mix my chia seeds in there.

LOL. As mentioned above, I add them to smoothies or protein shakes. I also shake some on salads. I've made pudding with them also (they are great thickeners). I also like to sprout them and eat the sprouts on salad.

ooooh, pick me, pick me...
our family LOVES them mixed in with coconut milk, vanilla, stevia, and/or pureed fruit to make a tapioca like pudding..I mix in jelly jars to make individual lunch servings..let sit overnight.

other fav way is to mix milk, oats, raisins, cinnamon, nuts, other dried fruit..again in jelly jars for individual servings and let sit overnight...a moist type muesli for breakfast...my family wipes these out.

and you can puree any fruit, berries, sweeten to taste (we use stevia/liquid) and add chia...let sit..voila jam...

all about 1T chia to a cup of liquid...just depends on how thick you like it.....and be sure while using chia you also either drink or add liquid to your diet...neighbor heard from her sister how healthy they were and she added to all kinds of food...didn't drink more water and let's say she had intestinal issues... ;-0

My extremely picky child *loves* chia pudding. She actually will ask me for it instead of ice cream (her other favorite). I use the SkinnyTaste recipe (not sure if I'm allowed to post links but you can Google it).

I normally sprinkle a spoonful on salads for a little crunch - but I do this at home, not in a lunch at work because I need to brush my teeth afterwards - the little black seeds love to get stuck in my teeth and have all the glamour of spinach in your teeth.

Also, sometimes if we have leftover coffee, I'll turn that into chia pudding and have it the next morning instead of brewing coffee that day.

And what are the benefits of Chia Seeds? I've seen them mentioned, but never looked into them.

They're a really good nutritional bang for the calories, because they are high in fiber, low in carbs, and high in omega-3s (like a vegetarian source of fish oil pills).

If you can get a good deal on them, they're a great addition to your diet. I got a bunch for free in a deal once and I'm quietly working my way through my stockpile. But I've seen them in stores for $20 a jar and there's no way I'd pay that.

The chief reason we include them is because of their decent calcium and omega 3 and 6s. We rotate our diet from vegan to semi-vegan (eat fish) monthly, so it's a good place for those especially when we are on our vegan cycle.

I blend them with water and use as a fat replacement in baking. Also use them in chia pudding and on top of cereal.
