| My Turn
I am on board now. I have no excuses! My last baby was born in 2001!!! I am 32 years old now and in the past 10 months, I've probably put on at least 15 lbs, if not more s!!! I can't take it no more. I'm up to a size 14, and my comfotable size is size 9/10. Now, I am tall about 5'8 so most people don't realize that I am as heavy as I am. But I think I am around 180 and my "normal weight should be around 160... I snack a lot. But, I am borderline Hypoglycemic so I get shaky if I don't eat every 2 hours. I don't eat a lot "big meals" as I get full fast. But, I snack a lot. I snack a lot of bad things... Cookies, Chips, Candy,etc... I need to cut that out. Plus, I am addicted to Dr Pepper... When I am home on the weekends, I drink probaly about 4 per day.... It is so bad! During the week I only have about 2, at the most per day. I have some workout equipment so I can do some stuff at home. But I need to get motivated. I refuse to buy more clothes. But honestly, I only have two dress pants that fit that I can wear to work and 2 pairs of jeans that work... It is so depressing!!! Any suggestions?????

Well, I find that if I don't have a) someone pushing me or b) a goal, I get ridiculously bored. What got me "back on the wagon" if you will, was signing up for a local 5K. I did the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and I had recruited donations. Knowing that people had given me money for a cause I was running for made it so I could not let them down. So to make them proud, I ran every day to train. I started small, running a half mile, then I increased when I felt ready...so give yourself a lot of time. Also, try getting a group together to work out. I go to a class with four girls from work every thursday. They MAKE me go. No excuses. If one of us tries to bow out, we get on her case good! It helps! Now, I am drinking a Dr. Pepper as you say this, haha...have you tried the Diet? It's amazing. My boyfriend helped switch me over to diet soda, and with alternatives like Diet Dr. Pepper and Coke Zero, I hardly miss it. |

That is awesome. I need to get on it, as my dh wants me to lose weight before we start TTC, which should be by the end of the year....

Good luck! Just take it slow at first. You have to find something that motivates you. Personally I love listening to music so I would download music from Itunes and only let myself listen to it while working out.

Well, it is September, and I am still at a standstill!! ![]() I am slowly trying to get in a routine. I went to the dr a few weeks ago, and since last december, I have gained 22 lbs! Yikes!! I'm between a size 12-14, and its just not "me"... My usual size is a 9/10. I just don't feel healthy and need to take the weight off. I'm trying...

Definitely get rid of the Dr. pepper! and as a pp said check out the diet dr. pepper and coke zero! Also add bottled water to your regimen! It helps! I have lost 68 lbs this past year and I drink lots of water, and add fiber into your diet, it stays with you longer and my help with the hypoglycemia. Think about changing your snacks to more healthy low fat options such as lots of fresh fruit and veggies. It is sometimes the small changes that make the biggest differences.

Karen, do you think cutting out the soda will help? It is the sugar that is so bad? Or the caffeine?

I lost 10 pounds just from cutting out soda of any kind! Of course, I was in Africa, so it was easier to cut it out of the diet, LOL. It was available, but it is an all day adventure to cross the city to the store. So, I just avoided it at the grocery store. Don't have the soda in your house, and allow it as a special treat when you eat out. Now that I'm back in the States, I've gotten back into my habit. ![]() I finally bought a Wii Fit, and love it! I worked out 4-5 times a week on it until two weeks ago. Then life happened. I need to get back into it, and keep telling myself I will...tomorrow. I live with back pain on a daily basis, but I feel so much better when I'm doing the Yoga and strength exercises. It initially took two weeks to notice a difference, but once I noticed it, that's been enough to keep me motivated. The best thing you can do is find an exercise program you like. I hate exercise, but really enjoy the Wii Fit. The investment was a bit high for the Wii, but I figured my health was worth it. Find whatever it is that you enjoy doing, and get doing it. |

good luck and cutting out the regular dr. pepper and going to a diet drink or water will help big time. i did weight watchers about 3 years ago and lost 32 pds. i have gained about 10 back but i try to drink the water and writing down what you eat in a food journal will help also. you really don't realize how much you snack on but if you write it down you can really see how much we eat. exercising will help also. i started out by just walking then added a toning class with weights. before even losing pounds people started noticing because the weights tone and make you look smaller. remember if you cheat a little don't beat yourself up just start watching again at the next meal. if you need anymore ideas, just ask or you can pm me. good luck and i'm getting back on track to lose more.

| Absolutely! Do you know how much sugar is in that can of pop??? Plus there is absolutely nothing nutritional in pop, it doesn't really quench your thirst and it rots your teeth! LOL Seriously as PP said cutting out pop will probably take 10 lbs off real quick. Seriously try some flavored calorie free waters or those stick packs that you put in water, crystal light anything but pop. Just MHO...Keep me posted and let me know what you decide to do.

BTW I have been doing weight watchers for the past year. it teaches you to make better choices and eat way more healthy. I like to think that with all the liquids i consume in a day (none of which are pop) that everytime i pee I am taking a little bit of fat out of my body! crazy i know! LOL. A food journal was key for me to see where and when i was hungriest and how I was eating. When you write it down you can see what is triggering your eating...are you really hungry? or bored? or stressed? i couldn't believe how much i was eating. DD got the wii fit and i love it!

Avoid fried food: Don’t eat fried food but rather grill or boil your food. Eat fewer carbs: Eat less pasta and bread. Reducing your carb intake is often one of the best methods of loosing weight. Start taking walks: Walking one or two times a day isn’t to hard but can help you lose weight faster. A good cheap weight loss fish is Tilapia.

i am addicted to diet coke. we got pics from a party last weekend and i am definately the heaviest i have ever been. i think i looked like this when i was 6 months pregnant and my daughter is almost 3. i just did the special k and fiber one deals at target and am trying to get back in shape before winter. i used to take care of a client in home and i would push her in her wheelchair 1 mile each day so she could go to turkey hill. my patient now is homebound because of germs and flu season so i've stopped exercising. i know when i used to walk/run and then run i burned a lot of calories. i drank crystal light too. i do like triscuit cracked pepper and olive oil with some reduced fat cheese. my problem is my bf is such a good cook and whenever he is home he cooks. he doesn't care about fattening food. good luck, keep us posted and give us tips. by the way, i started the biggest loser workout, hardcore for a week. i definately would have lost weight with that dvd but i found out i was 3 months pregnant and the doctor didn't want me to do anything high impact. that is a good work out though.
