Brouhaha, I bet the poster is referring to the $2 in YOURBUCKS we got when we signed up with ShopRite Family. It was a long time ago but I think they still give it. Thanks for making this thread. Im sue it answers lots of questions many newbies have... Youre an asset. thanks To the Poster: If this is the $2 you are asking about.... It is automatically loaded to your price Plus card and will come off your next shopping order.

MNOPQR - Oh wow, good tip about doubling and the barcode w/5... I didn't know that. I'll have to try the self-checkout next time I have a small order and see how it goes. Thanks!

| Shoprite Store Coupons
Shoprite puts out Store coupons - sometimes on home delivered circulars or in those little magazines containing local restaurant coupons (like Clipper). Many times these coupons will be good for several weeks or months. Shoprite will allow you to stack a manufacturers coupon with a store coupon. But, store coupons often contain language that limits you to one store coupon per shopping family. There store coupons are often for produce and/or meats. I have found that when you use a store coupon on an item on sale, you will often get a better deal. For instance, they recently had a 1.89/lb coupon price for boneless chicken breast. I bought it when they had a store sale of the chicken for 1.99/lb. The coupon took off .80/lb - so it looks like it takes off the price per pound off the regular price. In the end, I ended up paying 1.19 lb! |

Re: Cashiers who mistakenly don't scan coupons... I have a binder with clipped coupons and inserts too. When I plan a shopping trip i take the Qs I need and put them in a small coupon file- and leave my binder in my car. Inevitably, something is sold out, or they don't have my favorite flavor, etc... so I wind up not using some Qs. At the end of my order I innocently go through my stack and say out loud, "ok, I got the Colgate (hand the Q to the cashier), 2 mayo (hand it over), wait, I didn't get the Purex, etc. This way I never turn over a Q for something I intended to buy but didn't, and I make sure each Q goes through. |

i noticed these last few times that cashiers scrutinized the Qs more than they did before which i think is good because instead of me wondering if i got all my coupons right, the cashier does it for me already. like i bought 3 jars of peanut butter and one of my Qs was placed not after the two and the cashier actually looked for it. she said: only two Qs for these? i don't know, maybe they do these for IPs coz most of my Qs are such. |

Does ShopRite track limited items like a drugstore would via the savings card (Price Plus card)? For example, if an item is on the 4 day special and says limit 4, can I get more with either multiple trips on different days and/or multiple transactions? I know the drugstores track the limits via your ExtraCare card or Wellness card, but I don't know if grocery stores do this? TIA! |

Once in a while they do for deals like the gas card promo type thing. The ad will usual say must be purchased all in a single transaction. I would always assume this unless it states it is tracked during a defined sales period.

hi there, first, thanks to all of you for the amount of info available here for a newbie! very helpful! ok, so my question: how does shoprite qualify your purchase re: catalinas? is the total (i.e., buy $25, get $5oyno) based on shelf price, priceplus price, after coupon price...? looking forward to clarity...thanks, y'all! blessings! coleen |

Welcome to the Shoprite board of AFC. SR USUALLY is based on SHELF price. A good rule of thumb to follow is: If it is a Regular sale then go by the sale price. if it is a PPP (Price Plus card) sale then go by the shelf price. And it is always BEFORE coupons except when they did the gas/gift card promo recently. Also, SR usually states one offer per card but that is not usually the case. It is USUALLy one offer per transaction.

Edit: ahhh I see, as you scroll down the coupons you can add a Shop Rite card further down the page. Sorry and thanks for your help.

Wow! So I have been couponing, but not very seriously, for about 1.5 years now. Hearing from you all has me wondering how much more I could be saving. I'm big on cooking from scratch and not buying processed foods and I also buy a ton of produce. I'd love to find a way to reduce my OOP. So what would you say is your average savings (in terms of percentage) for your whole bill? Is there anyone who lives in the Philly area that finds certain ShopRites to be better than others for couponing? Thank you all so much for your help! |

I dont know a percent. But I figure the cost of coupons into my shoppign spending so even before Ive stepped out of the house Im down about $14 a week.

This was very helpful! Thanks! I'll definitely take advantage of the Shop at Home site from now on! Does anyone know if Dover & Wharton still take expired coupons? I've been saving them all to send to a program for families on military bases that can use them, but there are so many that I don't think I can afford to send them all. Also, we're going through some tough times at the moment, so it would help a lot if I could use them!
