I had several 'shops' tonight - a couple of which were free except for the tax. At Shoprite, here's what I got:

4 Chinet Casual Lunch plates 2.99 on sale 1.99 - 4X$2 coupons (adjusted down so free, no overage) = FREE
3 Glade soy 2 oz candles 2.99 - 3XFree candle coupons = FREE
1 Carbona Color Catcher on sale for .99 - $1Q adjusted down = FREE
Paid $.70 tax

Warning: I had 7 of the Chinet coupons and I knew the limit was 4 per variety. Since they are only good on lunch plates, I grabbed two different colors of the plates (4 green and 3 blue). The first 4 rang up with the sale price. The next were full price. So - first, they did not see the different colors as a different variety. I asked the cashier to take the additional 3 off my order, I would buy them when I come in for the 4 day price break sale. When they were taken off, 3 of the sale items were removed! It looked ok since it showed up as
2.99 -
1.00 -
1.00

So it looked like the sale price was a wash - it took the $1 off but added it back - but the final total was $3 more than my tax - so I knew it was wrong. Bottom line, they voided the order and started over. Bummer - hate to make them do all the extra work - but, really, shouldn't their system know to take off the 'over the limit so you didn't get the sale price' ones rather than the lower priced ones???? I wonder if it's their new register system - I don't think the old one did that.

My other free 'shop' was Pathmark - used $1.50 raincheck for Hot Shot bug spray for 4 and had 4 $1.50 coupons. I think I'm full up on bug spray but it shouldn't go bad.

Great trips!! I'm glad you caught the error, I know it stinks when it has to be done all over again but sometimes they have to.

I have 4 or 5 of the Hot Shots from a few months ago at A&P too! I agree they won't go bad.

The perdue chicken bites are on sale for $1.99. If you still have any of the $2 coupons, that makes them free. I had just ordered some of those coupons a couple weeks ago and was able to use all of them today. My chest freezer is stocked with the free perdue chicken bites now.

I didn't have a coupon for the .77 lunchables but I purchased 4 anyway. A coupon printed for $1.25 off 6. Used that on another purchase making the next 6 .56 cents each. On that check out another coupon for 1.50 off 7 printed.

So not cheap cheap but made my kids super happy.

I went to one Shoprite earlier this week and picked up 4 of these Chinet lunch plates using the $2 off Qs so they were free. Went to another today to try to use my remaining 3 coupons since the limit is 4 per transaction - and this store does not not even carry them! Their circular didn't even show it! Of course I found this out when I went up to get a raincheck. I don't think I remember a time when my store did not particpate is a sale I saw online.

Also picked up some free lightbulbs, although I'm switching all mine to CFL so I will likely give these away.

I bought 4 of the lunchables and did not get a Catalina! Another disappointment. And they were pretty picked over and only had a couple types from which to choose.

But, on the bright side, I stocked up on Grands (4) - .99 each and had 2 .40 off 2 Q which doubled so paid 2.40 for 4 - not free but with the weather getting cold Grands sound like a good idea with some soup, stew or crockpot meal.

Getting prettying annoying with this free stuff where the cashiers don't know what to do when the coupon is more than the cost of the item.

At least the Mentos, Fantastiks are fine.
I usually have me step daughter go with me and give her a cart of stuff if I have a lot of coupons, but I hate to give her ones that may beep.
