I'm a newbie to AFC and using coupons. I wanted to know if anyone knew the policy for coupon overages at the Shoprite stores?

I don't think I've ever gotten overage at ShopRite. When a coupon doubles, it only goes up to the price of the item as scanned.

Ditto! In fact, none of the grocery stores I visit give overage. Of course, this is in my area, so ymmv!

i too thought that it only goes up to the price of the item scanned but i noticed something interesting last week when they had colgate on sale for 99cent a tube.

i had two 75 cent off coupons, which would normally double up to 99 cents for each tube.
but since i bought 3 tubes the computer knew to double up to the price of all 3 tubes. in this case, the coupons registered as -.75, -.75, -.75, -.72 or a total of -2.97

on another note, on the bottom of some shoprite coupons, it always says "excludes items prohibited by law", which items might those be?

I've noticed that too and always assumed it's items like alcohol or cigarrettes, but I could be wrong?

My store does the same thing when it doubles multiple coupons. The last one doubles for less so as to not give overage which is fine by me.

The only time I've ever gotten the overage is when the coupon face value is more than the product itself. a couple weeks ago they had bic razor 8 - 10ct for $1.64 I had like 8 q's for $2 off each one. The whole $2 came off.

My store always adjusts the face value if it's higher than the price.
