I just got back from my first trip. I bought a lot of the stuff already listed. I tried the self checkout and I had a lot of trouble with their scanner. The scanner did not like the Qs. The cashier who helps folks at the self checkout said that I had to fold the coupon so only one bar code was visible. Then she told me I could not use the $.35 coupon for BC potato pouches ($1) because the tripled Q ($1.05) exceeded the price of the item. I stood my ground so she went and got some help. It took me 45 minutes to check out. I had the cashiers going back to check my items but in the end they took all my coupons. So overall it was not so bad. My total was $88.12 before Qs and OOP was $31.40. Next time I will go through regular check out. |

I also experienced some issue with some of my Q's. The $1/1 Duncan Hines beeped and I told the cashier the price is 2.89 and will not exceed the cost of the item. She went ahead and put it in manually. After reading your post that is probably why my Q beeped, due to the double bar code on the Q. None of the stores I shop at have self-check out lanes and 3 stores I have near me were rennovated recently. I guess its a good thing since it helps keep people employed.

I ran out of juice boxes for school tomorrow so --any excuse to go back to SFW My second trip was much better. I took DH with me so I did not browse and linger as much as I normally would. Still he got into the spirit of things and pointed out some deals. Here are some of the things I got -- Tums Smoothies 12ct $1.49 with $1/1 @ so free. Rolaids Chewables 12 ct or more $2.79 with $1/1 so .79 Pert Plus Shampoo was $2.29 with $/1 it was .29 each. Dole Mandarin Oranges cans were .98 each, 1 off 3 Q so .32 each Bridgford Parkerhouse style rolls $2.50 each with .50 Q so $1.00 Smithfield Pork Sirloins $2.58 with $1 Q so .58 Charmin TP 4 roll $1.79 each used $1 off 2, so .79 each Blue Bonnet Margarine $1.09 with a .50 Q so free Before Qs it was $87 ish and 24.15 OOP. The two cashiers cheered and clapped. It was a nice change. I love my SFW!! |

I have issues with the q's every time they have a triples special. I was told it was their new system the put in a few months ago. It's happening to my friends as well, and it doesn't matter whether it's the self check or the regular line. At the self check yesterday, it took about 7 of them and then wouldn't take any more. The self check lady had to move me to her station and then manually enter each q. The last time they did this I went through the regular line (right behind a good friend who had about 50 q's) and the guy had the same issue. It took a few and he had to type in the rest. It took the two of us forever to check out.

IMO I think the SF is not used to getting customers like us who shop with more than a certain amount of coupons and their system/register does not take it. Hopefully, I will see the Head Cashier who happens to be a customer where I work so I can ask her why does this happen. When they had triples before it to me an extra 10 minutes to check out because that too many Q's message came up and the head cashier had to manually enter about 10+ of my Q's.

I used the Reddi Whip ones with the Food Lion logo and had no problem, but I also had a very coupon friendly cashier.

I Love Doubles and Triples. Total before Q's $ 109.34 After Q's $ 52.68. 52 % Savings. When I got home I realized that 3 1.00 Q's didn't scan...So that would have been another 6.00. Oh well I will pay better attention next time !!! |
