I think this is my first post here! I've been a huge couponer for several years now but only recently found this site and you girls have saved me even more money than I used to! So thank you!

I just got back from a Shaw's trip and it was not good.
The cashier would not take Shaws and Manufacturer's coupons together! She said it was a "new corporate policy." I was so frustrated and I had to leave my Progresso soup order behind because I was counting on those extra $1/2 Shaw's coupons!

Has anyone else had this problem?

The cashier also super analyzed every single coupon, counting boxes in the bags and refusing to allow my printed coupons to double. (I know they say don't double or triple, but as I'm sure most of you have found, they WILL double and 99% of cashiers don't stop it.) Of course I didn't say anything, but I still lost several dollars in savings because of that.

I was just really disappointed. I usually shop on the weekends because the cashiers are much better then. Today there were only two cashiers - one guy who is HORRIBLE (BTDT and will NOT again) - and this girl today who I have never seen before and I will also never go to again.

It's not like I was trying to "pull" anything past them. I used completely 100% legitimate coupons. My Shaw's (Tilton, NH) has always been fantastic - I've been going there for 5 years and this was just so disappointing today.

Also I did one order with the GM cereal - 6 boxes of Fiber One and 2 boxes of Cheerios, using the .75/1 internet coupons. There was more than $32 Shelf price and it did NOT print out my $10 cat. I pushed the issue and the head cashier came over and tried to tell me it was because of my coupons. I insisted it wasn't as I do this all the time and his next argument was it's based on sale price. Again I insisted it was not, it was based on shelf and I knew this 100%. So he took $10 off my next order. He was good about it thankfully.

I still got 2 great orders where I basically got free things, but it was disappointing because I had really hoped to get more orders.

Anyways back to my original question - anyone else have issues with no M. & store coupon combinations anymore? I am thinking I will call corporate to get to the bottom of this.

No problems for me today with manu/shaws coupons combined. I have noticed a lot more scrutiny though and also today my shaws had the TV cameras working over the self check out section.

I just talked to customer service aka corporate. It IS their policy to accept BOTH manufacturer's and store coupons. No expired and no competitors (ie Target) coupons, but they will take store & man. coupons.
The guy apologized and said he will be sending a note to the store manager about what happened.

I feel a little better now. Now to get the kids in bed and to work out my transactions for tomorrow! FX that things will go better!

I'm sorry that you had a rough go of it today. Is it possible that the Cheerios were the wrong size. There were two similar sizes in my Shaws today and I almost picked up the wrong one. Just a thought.

The Cheerios were the right size but I think it was one of the Fiber One cereals that was wrong. I didn't bring the UPC list with me and was going by which items had the deal sticker. The head cashier looked over the receipt and my cereal while the cashier was ringing my next order up and he said he thought the culprit was Fiber One. I told him it had been marked and he said he would check it out and probably remove the sale sticker so this doesn't happen again. He was really nice about it.

Also, I did an order with 2 Pills Crescent Rolls, 2 Pills Cinnamon Rolls, 2 Pills Piecrust, and 5 BC fruit snacks and got all 3 cats. (I had my FX there because of the last one not working, but they all printed!)

Sorry about the trouble you had today-I used several Progresso manufacturer & Shaws coupons together. No issues at my store. I've been staying away from the Fiber one cereal because the only one on the list is the original-Really was hoping for the honey nut clusters. The Pillsbury double dip is great. Hope tomorrow goes better for you.

I had this issue (store + mfg coupon denial) once before at my Shaws but like you I contacted corporate and they took care of it. I haven't had that problem since. I'm glad they are taking care of it for you.

I had the same problem at the Tilton Shaw's a while ago too. BAck when they had the Shaw's coupons back to school, there were a couple of good deals with Sorrento Cheese. Once they let me use both coupons, and the next time, the woman told me they couldn't take a store and manufacturer coupon for the same item.

Jen, I wonder if we've ever run into each other there? I know several of the cashiers by now and one of the "head" cashiers has even said he wants to try more couponing and would love to take lessons from me. They've mentioned some "other coupon ladies" too so I wonder if they were talking about you?

I made another trip to Shaw's this morning and my luck, there are only two cashiers, both are older women. I have definitely found that it's easier to stick with the younger cashiers, again not that I'm trying to get away with something, but just that they are much easier to work with! But I had everything worked out perfectly, there should have been no issues right? Wrong. The cashier (different then the one last night) again tried to refuse to take my Shaws + manufacturer's coupons! I insisted very nicely, but equally firmly that I had JUST talked to corporate and it was OK. She was still unsure and called over the head cashier, who has always been fantastic. The head cashier looked it over and said I had enough items, to go ahead and put them through. But she still seemed uncertain over the policy. I told them again what corporate said and that furthermore, I had a voicemail just this morning from their manager about this issue. The coupons scanned - of course - and she said well it was fine then. But I could clearly see the issue wasn't resolved.

So after I finished up - I did get all 4 orders - yay! I went straight to customer service and had the manager paged (the same one who left me the voicemail.) I explained what happened once again and strangely, he said he was unclear about their coupon policy (not that he didn't believe me) but he would personally check with corporate and make sure all the employees were on the same page. He said they've had a lot of coupon fraud lately and they definitely don't accept "FREE" coupons anymore because of that. He did check with me to make sure the cashier took all of my coupons this time and apologized for the inconvenience.

We may have seen each other - I'm the one with a toddler and an older couple with me. My Dad comes with me to keep my son occupied while my Mom and I work the deals. It's pretty funny to watch some days
