| A catalina theory
I went today and bought enough stuff to produce the 3 catalinas (Kelloggs, Kraft and at my store BFTE is still producing). I had quite a few coupons and the cashier was not very happy about it. Anyway, I paid and the cat machine started blinking like it was going to print but then the cashier started ringing up the next customer and it stopped. Has anyone else experienced this? I went to customer service and they took me to a free register and rung up the stuff and the $20 in cats printed. I wonder if starting the next transaction interrupts the cats printing? If so, another reason to use SCO!

What's sco? I don't know about that, but once at kmart I bought the required purchases of $35.00 to get a Catalina coupon for $7.00, but the cashier sub-totaled the order in the middle of my order and I saw a $3.00 coupon come out. After he rang up the rest of my items no more coupons came out. The $3.00 was for a $14.00 purchase. The rude service counter person said it wouldn't have mattered if it was subtotaled or not. I must not have got the correct purchases. After asking the order be voided and re-rung, I got my $7.00 coupon. |

Somtimes it takes a long time and I tell them it should be printing and I wait for it. My theory is that I worked for that money (shopping clipping and separating orders) and I want it and I will find a way to get what I deserve, I do have an awesome Shaws though so not a whole lot of fighting.

That happened to me once. I paid.. she started ringing up the person behind me so I walked away. I get to the door and look behind me and I see her TEARING UP MY CATS. I went back and asked wtf. She said.. "Oh once the person leaves we have to tear them up". I argued.. I wasn't even out the door!!! So the FEM came over and got the little shards of paper and brought them to the service desk.. where I waited for 25 minutes for him to tape it all back together. It happened once a few months ago too and they did the same thing. Why they didn't just re-ring it baffles me.

I am new to this cat thing, but that has happened to me twice. It usually happens in the express lane to me. I think the solution is to pay by credit card. (I use my debit as credit, then they have to wait for you to sign, That usually gives the machine time to work. I realize that I have lost three cat's this week. Two for the conagra deal because I bought peanut butter and one for tombstone pizza because the store had an old shelf price and they have since reduced it so it didn't qualify. I think I am finally empowered enough by the people here to make the store give me my coupons. BTW I have seen cashiers tear up other people's coupons too. But several cashiers have complained that the machine is slow and told me to wait. What I also hate is when the printer is almost out of ink and so you can barely read it. Sue

I had one run out of paper...but when they reloaded nothing else printed out...I'm now wondering if when they rang up the next person my cats came out...I ended up having to call catalina to get them to mail me the ones I should have gotten.

I call cataline marketing about my cats today. And while I was on the phone, I asked the csa whether the new transaction would cancel the previous cats. He said no. But he said something else kind of interesting. If a blinkie isn't working, sometimes the store switches them out and if that happens, your coupons will print at another register! That's why it's worth calling. They are very nice there. (So far anyway)
