| pie crusts ~ off topic
What is everyone making with their free pie crusts? I was going to save it for blueberry pies but I think I might make the artichoke quiche that is in the April ALL YOU magazine. I don't even know if we like quiche, we have never had it but I thought it sounds yummy. |

I havent picked one out yet might just make the top and do a chicken pot pie. on the Pillsbury website the "Classic chicken pot pie" recipe is so easy and yummy! We make it often..it calls for 1/3 butter and I swear we use about half of that and still so yummy.

I have a turkey I am thawing out this week, so I was planning on making some Pumpkin Pie with one, and also I had thought of making a shrimp & broccoli quiche for next weekend.

I was thinking about a cherry pie...or a chicken pot pie with a mashed potato topping...dessert or dinner...tough choice for me.

| I'm glad I got a couple when they first handed out the books. I have a few more coupons to use and my store never has them in stock. I'm beginning to think they may not restock until the coupon expires.

My 13yo DS has been making broccoli, onion and cheese quiche w/ the free crusts and free frozen broccoli. His sister is vegetarian and has been in heaven. She eats half a quiche in one sitting!

Shaws had these coupon booklets out called "Cool savings" or something like that. It was a small blue booklet and had a bunch of free coupons in it. You can try asking at the service desk if they still have any but I think they went pretty quick, and some have claimed their Shaws pulled them because they were overwhelmed with Free item coupons. The other issue is a lot of these things have not been restocked. I haven't been able to use mine yet.

What kind of pie crust were they? They had plenty of Shaws brand and Pillsbury brand in stock in Nashua, NH if anyone is in the area. I could really use these! I went last night to buy them with a .60 off coupon that would double to $1.20 and they were still over $1.00 less at the Market Basket everyday price. Also went to buy the Mama Rosi Ravioli which was overpriced. They were 40% off $3.99 which is not good. The Market Basket everyday price is $1.00. I realized I really need to be careful with the Shaw's pricing.

KPEM - I beleive they are the Shaws deep dish 2 ct. Yes - Shaws has high prices. They have some great sales and you can do really well there but you need to be careful to only buy the best deals and stock up. I don't have a Market Basket here but I have an Aldi. Anything I need that isn't on sale I get there and I only buy stuff at Shaws if it works out cheaper than Aldi. It may be a good idea to make a price book of the things you buy a lot listing the Market Basket price so you know if it is worth it to buy something at Shaws or not. |

I already did chicken pot pie. I will definitely do quiche! These are great if you need to bring a meal to a new mom, etc, since the pan is disposable!

I couldn't believe it...my store restocked about 5 days before the q expired, I had to go back a few times to use up my q's (and I'll really use these!).

I finally asked the mgr about them, and he told me to hang on to them, and they'll accept them when they restock. I'm going to try that out today.
