| Wow
So I go to this Shaw's maybe once a week in my town for quick little trips.I do my major transactions at another location. Well lately this one has been giving me a hard time.Last time they wouldnt take my wild harvest coupons etc so I told them to void out the transactions etc. So I walk in for something quick and theres 4 people standing around the "podium" the bagger, the cashier and two other people.Well the bagger who is probably not the brightest crayon in the crayon box says (wicked loud mind you) "here she is" they all look right at me..I just gave them this look like "yes? can I help you?" I seriouslly walked out of there sick to my stomach! Who cares that I use coupons!! I think they think I'm trying to scam them or something. One time when the Ronzoni was on sale for 10/10 one of the cashier contemplated not taking my coupons for a 1.00 cause I would have gotten it for free!! Just was not even in the mood to shop! Do you guys avoid a store because people hate your coupons and the fact you stand up for them?

Wow is right!! I would be pretty mad if someone did that to me. I'd actually probably write to corporate for being treated like that. I can't say that I've ever avoided a store because of something like that only because nothing like that has really happened to that extent to me yet. Not sure I'd avoid it though. If you have a really hard time with legit coupons, then that is an issue that they need to fix at the store and definitely write to corp about them being trained on the proper use of the coupons so they will take them. If it's something else, then maybe if you have another shaws close by just go to that one so you don't waste your time. I think it would all depend on what kind of mood I was in if I avoided it or went in and used as many coupons as I could!! Sorry they made you feel like that!

Is the store manager aware of these particular emplyees attitudes? After all, your CHOICE to shop at that store helps them to keep their jobs, right? I feel badly that what should be a pleasant experience turned into such a dreaded chore for you. |

Not clear on what you mean by "stand up to them." So far, I haven't encountered needing to do this. I've simply felt bogged down and stressed out by their rules. Shaws is a lot easier to shop, with fewer and more clearly defined rules. And the manager has been SUPER nice to me a couple of times with returns and adjusting mistakes on my receipts. (Double scans on items.) Frankly, the economy and other things in my life are stressful enough without having a store add to my stress level. I don't need to shop somewhere that makes things difficult for me when I can get good deals elsewhere. That said, I do still go to Price Chopper, although I'm doing more and more shopping at Shaws. Maybe you could try shopping at a different time of day? Evenings seem a little easier for some shoppers. (Fewer older cashiers, more high school and college students.) And does this store have self-checkout? I LOVE self-checkout. That way, I can make sure all my coupons get scanned. (Sometimes the IPs stick together and the cashiers miss some of them.) I can ring myself up at my own pace, so I can make sure all the prices are correct. If something rings up wrong, I ask for assistance and then I don't have to come back later and have it adjusted. One more thing: I aways chat up the older cashiers, ask them how they are today, comment on the weather, give them a HUGE smile and lots of positive energy. This seems to help A LOT! |

I would try addressing it with the store manager or as mentioned above write to corporate. There is no reason for them to treat you like that. If they are driving you away they are probably doing the same to others too.

Several years ago, my local store had poor customer service and it was hard going into the store. One day, I had enough and told the store manager about the situation. They are the BEST people now!! Start calmly and constructively with the store manager. If that fails, call corporate. No one deserves to be treated (or made to feel awful) as you were. I am sorry you went through that. |

i feel the same way about my shaws. a few weeks ago i had a problem with one of the cashiers taking my OYNOs. now i still have $50, and am dreading having to go back in there to use them up before they expire. i emailed corp over 2 weeks ago, and still haven't heard anything back. i'm pretty sure that after i use up these OYNOs, i won't be back to shaw's. i really don't like being treated badly. and when they say stuff loud enough for you to hear it among themselves, that is just horrible. i know exactly how you feel, and will be avoiding shaw's and stick to my local store and price chopper.

Unless you live in a small town and there's nowhere else to shop. When I was in high school, and summers during college, I worked in a grocery store in a small town. They treated everybody badly. And they didn't think anything of it because they really didn't know any better. I'll bet that everyone who worked in that store had never been out of the county. They just didn't get it and they are never going to. Reminds me of my dad's favorite saying: You can't fix stupid. |

so i went today to suck it up and just use my OYNOs on half my order. order came to a little over 50, so i figured i could use $25 worth of them. WRONG!! apparently nobody told me last time that the limit is 3(of the $5) per order. so once again they have changed the policy. or changed their minds for the day. i told them about last time and what the cashier told me about they just counted as coupons and i could only use q's for half my order. they said well, you can only use 3. so i guess the best way for me to use them is 3 at a time on orders of $30. what a pain. i can't wait to get rid of these last $35 worth that i got.

Sorry you're having such a hard time with your ONYO cats! I remember when I first got mine, how I worried about being able to use them because of all the problems I was having it Price Chopper. Too bad the next closest store is so far away.
