| O.K. So how many times did everyone do the Buy $30/Get $15 OYNO catalina?
Now that the week is over, how many times did everyone do this deal? I stopped at 7. My freezer is full of Green Giant veggies, plus I got Dove shampoo and deodorant, BC cookie mix, Progresso broth, Knorr sides, All, and tons of other stuff. I thought about doing it more, but was out of good Q's. Plus I did the Conagra deal a bunch of times-Can't wait to do this again tomorrow. |

I did it 6 times (well, it was 3 times doing buy $60/get $30) I couldn't believe it tonight. I got $90 (presale) worth of groceries for $3! I rolled $30 of catalinas, got $30 back. It was ALL things we use. Best grocery shopping trip EVER! I did the conagra deal 3 times also. ![]() CTSunshine

Wow, I'm impressed. I did it three times. I already redeemed $30 worth of my cats and I have $15 worth left. Thanks for the link. I had no trouble using my catalinas and have never heard of what she's talking about. I think some cashiers make it up as they go along. My total was under $1 the last two times I used my catalinas and I never had any problems.

That's the policy at my Price Chopper. I hope Shaws doesn't start doing it too.

and here i am ibis!! . i wanted to rant about it last night, but my daughter was cranky before bedtime, so i didnt have any more time to stay on the comp. anyway....i went back to shaw's to do the deal a second time. figured it was worth my time to go again. my total pre q's came to about $50 (??) my cashier had a really hard time even scanning my $15 or so worth of coupons. she didnt realize there was a dnd button and put them all through manually. so no big deal, even though it would have been nice if she would have scanned and doubled them, that is what they say. so my total was down to about $35 and i tried to hand her the $30 oyno cats i had from my last trip. she told me i couldn't use them all, that they were coupons and you can only use coupons for 50% of your order. i had never heard that policy at my shaws. then she went on to tell my that some people come in with STACKS of coupons (what did she think i had just handed her?) and that they were just trying to get away with(like we are commiting a crime) saving too much. she was so rude. if she would have tried to be nice about it i probably wouldn't have gotten so mad. so i just said ok let me use $10 at least of these and it will be half. so she let me do that and my final total was $25. then she handed me my receipt. i said something about the cats that were supposed to print (the machine just had a little delay) and when they started printing she turned to another cashier while i was standing right there and said "see this is why we shouldnt let people use these. look what she is getting away with"!! i couldn't believe it!! somebody needs to work on their customer service skills. i have no trouble following stores policies, but i can't stand it when people are rude to me. it must be a new one because i have definately used more that 50% q's before. either that or the other cashiers didnt say anything. now the problem i have is i still have $20 oyno from the first time i did it, and i got an addtional $30 oyno this time. so now i have $50 that i am going to have to spend $100 to use. and that is if i don't use any coupons. they really should have to be state that on their promos. "spend $30 and get $15 onyo of $30 or more" and on top of that i reallllly don't feel like shopping at shaw's anymore. i think i will stick to price chopper from now on. sorry to go on and on. just venting! |

I'm sorry that's what happened to you. you should come to my stores, because they don't have a problem with us using all the cats on one transaction. I'd be really mad if I could only use coupons on 50% of my stuff. What would be the point in shopping there then?? You may be able to use the Cats at another store since they are really manufacturer coupons if that helps you at all. check with another grocery store by you and see if they will allow it. i know Shaws will take my stop and shop ones so maybe it'll go the other way too!

I think I'm going to add some Christmas gifts to my order, things like videos, wine, chocolates, etc. that I would have to buy anyway. That should force my order up above the 50% margin. I'll look into the gift certificate idea when I do the conagra deal.

greenmountainwife, Wonder why come cashiers don't understand that the store is fully reimbursed for the coupons and it's none of their business how many we coupons we use as long as they're used legitimately. |

I would have asked her to call the manager or gone to the customer service desk. What she was saying made no sence at all. I would still go to the service desk even if just to complain and let them know so they can retrain her.

| i know. i was so mad. it's not like they would be out anything. they actually make money on the deal if they are getting someone in the store that doesn't usually shop there.

Wow, that's odd. What if you had mfg coupons that covered more than half? You could try emailing Shaws from their web site. I had to do that once when they wouldn't let me use a store coupon and mfg coupon on the same item and they were helpful. I still carry around the email in case I have a problem but they must have retrained them because it hasn't been an issue since. |

oh and it would be the same with manu q's. 50% and you can't use any more. although i have used more than 50% at that store before and not had a problem.

I just read somewhere that this deal is still going on. Has anyone tried it to confirm that it is indeed still printing the $15??

I'm not sure how many times I did the deal, maybe 4 times at spend 60, get 30 each time.... All of the trips were fine except for one. I had the rudest cashier! One of the reasons I got to my Shaws is because all of the cashiers are nice and friendly all of the time, that and their produce is the best in my area. This cashier didn't smile not once and then she got an even worse look on her face when I handed her my stack of coupons. Normally I'm really good, but I forgot to grab peanut butter, so the coupons beeped. Luckily it was on an end cap, so I grab a few and put it on the belt. Meanwhile, she's been scanning all of my coupons. Then she says to me that she needs to get a manager because she's scanned too many coupons. She said that you can only use 6 of the same coupon??? It's not that any of them beeped either, she just decided. I had never heard of that before, but the thing was that I wasn't even doing that. She grouped all of my BC Frosting coupons together even though some were 50 cents off and others were $1/2 and had different exp dates and everything...ugh! The mgr wasn't too be found so I asked her to scan my PB while waiting and she gave me this look and said no I have to wait for the mgr. Meanwhile a customer behind me is getting irritated, so she scans the PB and I had to ask her to scan my PB coupons too. Still no mgr, so she says whatever and gives me my total. I gave her 3 off the $5 coupons from the other day and she just looks at them and says you can only use one of these per order. I just stare at her and ask where does it say that on the coupon. The bagger even said that you can use more than one. At that point a supervisor walks by and she asks him, he states that I can use as many as I want as long as it doesn't go over the price of the entire order. I had more, but I just left it at three, I mean they're good til the 27th so I knew I'd be back... I did notice something funny though and I wanted to know if it was just me... Now I don't buy a lot of taxable items, so maybe that's why, but after a $5 cat was scanned the tax on the order went negative...this happen any where else? Am I cheating my state now or is it the store's fault for not coding the coupons properly? Sorry, such a long post, but I've been so irritated about that cashier and needed to get it out. I think I'm going to call the manager and complain about her or at least ask what their coupon policy is. Thanks for reading! --Fern |
