At the save a lot stores here you have to bag your own groceries. You also have to pay for the bags if you want to use their bags.

Exactly....we weren't prepared...So we paid .10 for a bag for the cold stuff and just loaded the rest onto the back seat. Next time I'll bring a few bags ( I save them from Walmart, CVS etc...anyway) and my collapsable ice chest.

Just an fyi they will let you grab the boxes from the shelves and freezers to use instead of bags!!

My save a lot (ga) just gives you the bags but you do sack it yourself

The Save a Lot here is cheap for produce and it's store brand groceries and milk is really cheap. I find they are just as high for name brand groceries though except for their 10/$10 deals - they have some really good deals this cycle for things I always look to purchase.

WOW, just had my 1st bad experience at Save-A-Lot. I shop there pretty regularly & I use coupons on things that match up. Today the Hubby & I were buying the Hormel Pepperoni & the Betty Crocker Potatoes. Both were on sale 10/$10 & I had q's for them. We were stocking up so I was buying 30 of each & using 15 Q's for each. Now please bear in mind that these are inset Q's, not IP's. Also, we were not clearing the shelf, they had a lot of stock & this was barely making a dent.

The cashier had to ask the manager because she had been recently reprimanded by him for allowing someone to use more than 1 Q per transaction. So, he comes over & says that he has to call someone to find out if he can take the Q's. I tried to explain the difference between a purchase & a transaction, even tried to show him a P&G Q to illustrate, but he refused to listen or look. He said that it does not matter what the Manufacturer meant, it matters what his Corporate Policy states. After about 10 minutes he comes back & says that he called his Business Manager & his District Manager & both of them agreed that I could only use 1 Q per transaction.

DH was livid! He asked for the Managers name & the names of the all of the people that he supposedly called. The Manager refused to even give us his own name. We asked for a copy of the Coupon Policy, he told us to go to Save-A-Lot.com. We asked for the number to Corporate Customer Service, he told us to call 1-800-Savealot. We tried it & no such number exists.

We finally got the number by calling Directory Assistance. DH spoke to someone & we are waiting for a call back & an e-mail copy of the Corporate Coupon Policy. I'll update this post when we hear back.

BTW, I went to Walmart & Price matched the Betty Crocker Potatoes. Unfortunately, my Walmart does not carry the Hormel Pepperoni in the same size.

Have you ever had problems using multiple coupons there before? I have never tried to use coupons there before and I was planning on getting a good amount of turkey bacon.

No, never. I shop there regularly and I've used lots of coupons before. I think this was a new manager. I've never seen him before.

I did go today. I bought 8 packs of butterball turkey bacon for $1 pack and used 8 coupons, worth .55 each. Someone pm'd me they were still on sale!! Thanks again! Trying hard to save money. Afc has been wonderful!

That is a really good deal. I find turkey bacon taste better than pork bacon. Healthier too.

I had a bad experience there too! Only 1 coupon per item the manager told me! I had 8 packs of bacon according to them since its the same kind its only 1 item!

Our store did not have the .49lb chicken drumsticks in Owensville Mo in their ad. So, I had the St Clair Mo ad with me (This is where deal is but too far away) so I pricematched at Walmart on my way home. Got 4.5lb bags of Great Value frozen chicken drumsticks for 2.45 a bag. If your Save-a-lot doesn't have them then check the on-line ads for other stores in your area. Seems that all the ads are different because they are all individually owned. Our Walmart will pricematch for stores within 60miles.

We just had a Save-A-Lot store open yesterday in Longmont, CO. Went today and found bone-in pork loin for $1/lb. Seemed like a good deal to me so I picked up 25 lbs for $20 when you take into account that I used a $5 off $25 coupon. They did not seem to have any of the other deals mentioned here like the Butterball Turkey Bacon, Hormel Pepperoni or the chicken drumsticks. Don't think they were out as there did not seem to be a place for them but since yesterday was the grand opening guess they could have been. Thanks to this form for the warning about the need to bring own shopping bags and the hint about the $5 off $25 coupon. Made for a very sweet deal!
