I wish they would do a flyer with their prices like they were doing with Special Buys, now it's a menu-meal-deal looking flyer instead. I can't do coupon matchups for the Save-A-Lot forum readers with that. |

Hard to match up coupons with name brands I've never even heard of either. The prices seem good on lots of items but I know I can still find better deals at Albertson's and Safeway and Fred Meyer with some coupons. They opened up a Save-A-Lot in my area about 1 1/2 yrs ago and we went to the grand opening and seemed pretty impressed with most of the prices but then I discovered couponing along the way and only shopped there when I was carless and had to walk to the grocery store. They have an odd way of having you bag your own groceries too and I hate doing that but if it saves along the way I'll do it and bring in my own grocery bags too. I bought a bunch of those heavy duty bags and they sure do hold the groceries but I always seem to leave them in the trunk and remember them at the check out. Need to post a note to my forehead I think, Remember bags before entering store. |

I haven't been able to do an ad matchup for Save-A-Lot in some time. I was going through the name brand list that I previously posted with the name brands that Save-A-Lot does carry (which is not many compared to their generic line) and trying to match up q's to it but some of the items I haven't found q's for. I know what you mean. Some of the prices at Save-A-Lot for the name brand items are pretty low but many times, I can get them even lower at other stores with double coupons. The one exception that I know of right off hand is the French's Fried Onions. With coupon, they are the least expensive at Save-A-Lot. The Save-A-Lot stores here do not have you bag your own groceries. Now we have a store down in Chattanooga area that is an Aldi's and they have you to bag your own groceries (even pay for the bags) and you use a quarter to use their shopping carts (you get it back when you return the cart to the coral). |

I usually get the French's Onions at Target and are always the lowest priced in my area and use a coupon there. Stores in Canada do the same thing with the quarter shopping cart thing. I thought it was a pretty good idea and people would walk up to you telling you they would just take your cart for you and hand you a quarter. They had a key system that hooked them all together and out pops your quarter when you hook your cart back up. Yeah they just scan all your items and throw it all right back into another shopping cart at the end of the register but when you have a child sitting in the basket on the cart wouldn't you think they should put your items back into that cart? so now I end up with another cart that I have to push over to the store front windows where they have the counter and all the shopping bags. Maybe that's what has kept me away from that store for so long. |
