| SAL...the place to buy can foods
I buy all my can stuff at sal...its cheaper...most of it 3/$1...I love it there...I don't buy my meat there though, but the can stuff is cheap and is just as good as the name brand cans to me.

SAL is by far, the least expensive place for canned goods; even when A's had their big .50/can sale last week, SAL either beat their price or was the same.....and the stuff is always on the shelf, no rain checks, no coupons needed |

I love it for the canned goods, during the holidays for all of those canned food drives, I always get a case or two of veggies.

I love SAL too but we almost always buy our meat there, one of our friends use to be a butcher there and he got us to try their meat. We can buy awesome T-Bones and prime cut steaks pretty cheap plus they always heave reduced meat ie.. "managers special", "reduced for quick sale". If you haven't tried their meat, you might think twice.

They have awesome truckload meat sales here. Pick 5 for $19.99.... I always go for the biggest packs of meat and end up getting between $20 - $25 worth of meat each time.. Just look for the pick 5 stickers on the meat.... usually ground beef, chicken, and pork. This is an especially great deal on the boneless skinless chicken breasts! There are usually Pick 5 deals in the freezer section too. Bags of breaded chicken tenders or chicken nuggets. Bags of corn on the cob and a few others. |

I like to stock up with can goods from SAL. I also like to go for their reduced meat sales. I can usually find nice looking packages of meat . Sometimes it is for meat that I rarely buy because of the cost. |

Well phooey gmpaula! There are three SAL's that I stop in at... one on a regular basis and two when I'm in that area. One of them doesn't run the same sales at the other two does which is weird but I found out they are locally owned which means the other two (one of which I go to regularly) has the same sales... the $19.99 meat deal and the 3/$1 canned goods. So maybe yours is locally owned is why.

I was excited to find Nostolgic Candy wrappers for Hershey Bars tonight! I am in charge of my IL's 50th Anniv Celebration next month! We are gonna put a wrapper over the candy bars with one of thier wedding pics! Thought it was neat to find the old wrappers! I am hoping they can order me a couple of more boxes tho! I bought ALL the hershey bars they had! I sure got some looks! I am a big gal! I just stopped in for a few items and bought out the candy too! LOL I bet the guy that checked me out thought I was gonna go home and eat candy all night!!!

Well, I went to the SAL in my area and the canned goods...any kind were all 58 cents a piece. The fresh fruit was inexpensive but the meats were just as expensive as any of the other stores. Oh, well. I guess I'll stick to double and triple coupon stores and good ol' Wally World.

How do you tell the expire dates on their canned goods? I'm looking to do a bigger stock pile from there and would like to know. Thanks |

It's a printed code on there just like regular brands. Look for the day date, month, year in a code and that will tell when it was sealed. I can't remember the shelf life of canned foods... seems like it may be a year or three years. |

I love SAL for their canned ravoli, deals on name brand cereal, frozen okra and french fries and boxed/pouch side dishes. I usually buy more depending on what they have but always walk out with those items. I also think it's fun because I never know what they are going to have.
