Safeway $10 Catalina starts 4/11!!

On April 11 through May 15, Safeway has a Catalina Promotion called "Living Well Feeling Great".

You will have to purchase $30 in qualifying purchases: Diet Pepsi Crest, Propel, Healthy Choice, Pantene, Snackwell, Chips Ahoy, and Lubriderm (which is listed at http://tinyurl.com/2grn9n ) However, I believe this deal is like the Rally Deal in which "Living Well Feeling Great" tags will be on the other qualifying products.

Handouts of Living Well products...

There are about 5 "brochure" type handouts available that list tons of products with this $10 catalina special. Anyone have any good tips to get the best bang for your buck? Can you do this unlimited times?
I'm in TX....

well, it's not a buy X amount of items deal, you have to spend $30 no matter what - so it's just a matter of finding which items you have coupons for

Right. But after doing the last few rally deals and pillsbury deals, I'd like to know what are the least costing items with coupons that double and triple and make the deal FREE or almost free after the catalina. KWIM?

Or am I not understanding it correctly and even AFTER the coupons you must still spend $30?

I did this deal today and there are so many products included it is so easy to get to $30. Now to spend the least, there are not alot of "free" ways, but lots of cheap with coupons. Really depends on what you eat/like/need. We like South Beach and those are included, pricey and I found some coupons on ebay, so that will be good. We love Starbucks beans and they are included, $7.99 ouch!, but I buy one each time I go once I have my $10 catalina. I'm not too interested in the B1G1F cleaning producta as I have way too many as it is. I did find some Powerade coupons at CVS for $1/2 and that is included, on sale for $1, so that will be 50 cents after coupon. That one alone, but 30, use 15 coupons and pay $15, $5 if you've already done it and have the $10 cat. We like the Ronzoni Whole Wheat pasta $1.25 each and $1/2 coupon. Birds Eye Steam Fresh coupons are included, come to $1.39 after doubled 50 cent coupon. Hot pockets are included. They are on sale for $2, there's a 50/3 and a 75 off the new calzone type. There are just so many items included, you really need to just walk the store and bring all your coupons and decide what you need this week. The lists are hard to follow as there are no sizes indicated. There may be an item that qualifies for this and you think the $5 catalina, but the sizes are different so no double dip. Wondering about Capri Sun, Roaring Waters is on the $10 deal, regular on the $5 one, wonder if either will work on one another? Oh, Lipton tea is included and there was one for $1.05 and a 60 cent coupon. Smart Balance is included and we have coupons on those. The Kellogg's Special K2o water is included, it's $1.99, and use $1 coupon. Juicy Juice is included and there are coupons, lots of O Organics products are included, I did find a dairy coupon and baby coupon on that. not sure if the baby is included. Orville popcorn is B1G1F and that is included and 40 cent coupon. Chex Mix are inlcuded. Sooo many products, everyone needs to go to the store and check it out. Let's post if we find a fantastic deal, but I didn't find much that was more than 50%. So you will spend $15 and get the $10, then after that it will be $5 when you use the $10 along with it.

Yes it's "easy" to get to $30.00, but I don't currently see any hot deals from this promotion, at least not in N CA without any doubling here.

The value of the Cat equals about .33 off per dollar spent if your before coupon total equals exactly $30.00; so for example an item priced at $4.49 equals about a $1.49 value from the Catalina bringing the cost to $3.00 before coupon. Then you need to judge if the Cat savings value equals a hot deal or not on the item.

I quoted 1 of the examples above on the K20 water. A hot deal would be a $1.00 sale price minus the $1/1, or even ~$1.50 price would be free after $1/1 & ~.50 Cat value, but a starting price of $1.99 isn't a hot deal IMO b/c -$1/1 & - ~.66 Cat value still equals a cost of .34, & you'd have to buy 16 of them & have 16 $1/1s (to get to $30.00 on this item alone).

While many items qualify, that doesn't create a hot deal. Most of the prices on qualifying items are terrible (at least here).

Hopefully there could be some hot deal on this promo in future weeks before it's over (May 15th here). Received a mailer before this started with all the qualifying products BUT without the sizes & varieties included.

This is how I started, but if you can find more tea and have enough coupons, you might be able to start this better. (Thanks to my best buddy in DFW for taking the time to type this all up!!!!!!!!! LOVE YA, GIRL!!!!)
10 boxes lipton tea 1.04 less $.50 coupons = 10.40 - 5.50Q's (1st one doubles)
1 tone soap 1.50 - $..35 (X3) = .45
1 dial soap 1.50 - .35 (X3) = .45
4 windex 3.49 ea X2= 6.98 (BOGO) use 4 $1 Q = 2.98
5 special K waters 1.99 - minus $1 blinkie = .99 each X 5 = 4.95
Total is $30.33 less coupons -$16.55 = $13.78
Get a $10 catalina
That means that your total OOP is only 3.78 once you get your cat.
I agree with Fremont...next weeks deals will probably be better.
Just FYI - anything that is BOGO doesn't count as two of the items. I've tried it, and it's a NO GO! If you were to do 10 Windex because they are 3.39 regular (but listed as BOGO in the ad), 10 of them wouldn't work. This deal is WAY TO HARD to get started this week, so if you're low on funds, wait till the start of a new ad.

You did great on it because your area has doubles.

I disagree with Fremont because I am Fremont, & that's not what I said LOL. I haven't seen next week's ad & don't know if it will be any better. The deal goes through May 15th here & I'm just hoping they'll likely be some hot deal(s) (without doubling) before the Cat promo is finished.

Ours has the same running dates. Last year there was a week when you could get started for barely any OOP, so let's just HOPE that happens. Sorry for the misunderstanding...

No problem LOL, I'm probably dumber! Hard to believe there isn't a hot deal hiding somewhere in there (even without doubling). Is it that I just haven't spotted it yet? Maybe, but more likely the simple answer LOL is that it's Safeway = where a B1G1F often costs more than 2 of the same item at regular price in other stores LOL (& cats are more likely to not print than print).

I knew the Savings Rally cat deal. I 'loved' the Savings Rally cat deal. Still have LOADS of Slim Jims & Kraft To Go. This is LOL no Savings Rally (at least not so far).
