My Vons refused to accept more than one like coupon on a recent shopping trip. At forst she said she thought the I was only allowed to use 2 like coupons as she was told recently (apparantly, there is a memo on the board he said???). I aked her to please confirm this and she ran around the front asking several cashiers if she can accept more than one no one was really sure....some said the thought it was 2 like...some thought 3 and some had no clue. The district manager happened to be in the store and said you can now only used one like coupon....so evennif you are buying 3 the same items you cannot use 3 coupons if they have the same bar codes they said. Is this true? and if not what can I do about this? Also, I am in CA (land of no doubles).

Call the store manager. There is a memo going around about coupons, but it is for IP Q. Print out the coupon policy on safeway.com and use that. Each manager makes up the coupon policy so it can be different from store to store, but call the store manager, make sure it is the store and not a shift or some other kind of manager. I had a cashier at a different register tell the cashier that was checking me out to check all my Qs to make sure I only used one of a kind. I talked with the manager a few days ago and told her that she can call the STORE manager and check with him about my Qs.

I was told last night that they will accept 3 "newspaper type coupons and only 1 printed coupon per day for any like items". The girl told me it was because of counterfeit coupons. I told her my IP's all had different numbers, showing they were not copied or counterfeit, she said no. :-( I am so bummed. I think I am running out of places to use Q's. I only have a Walmart, Safeway and Kmart in my town and the next closest thing is 2 1/2 hours away. :-(

I am so annoyed! The baby is screaming through the whole store and we finallly get everything we need and we were doing the $5 off 5 deal only to get to the register scan everything and the lady was like oh I can only use 2 of the same coupon. WHAT! I told them that we needed to take most everything off because I had more then two on almost everything and that they were losing business. Finally the "manager" says fine we will do it just this one time. Out of all of this I had just ONE printable, the smithfiled coupon. The rest were out of the paper. I have 6 kids and two items of each just doesn't suffice. If this is truly the policy I will have to be done shopping there. I can see how the IP coupons could be limited, but newspaper MQ's too? cmon

They have to be mistaken because I was in there a couple weeks ago checking out with the assistant manager with the Chiquita pineapple and I used 12 BOGO coupons and he didn't make a peep about them. I am calling today!

had the same problem yesterday from a checker and I was a bit ticked off so I called the manager on the way home and he said it wasn't true and to come back and he'd pay me for the refused coupons. Have his name and number on speedial now!

I had the same problem at my Vons- I sent a nicely worded email to corporate and never got a reply, and I should have followed up but I kind of forgot. And frankly I haven't been back since. In all honesty I don't understand how they stay open. I only shopped there for the deals, but now all of a sudden they don't accept more than 2 like q's, you have to spend more than $20 (which is fine except that it limits repeat trips), etc. And there is a Stater's a block away which is SOOO much cheaper and has never questioned a q (other that the fact that they don't take IP's, but while I don't love that I respect it). I mean seriously... The only reason I was looking right now was to see if there were any deals on the $5 off 5 thing.

Hope I never run into these problems and I always have a few same coupons. Yesterday my cashier scanned all my coupons and then he started going back through them again one by one and I couldn't figure out what he was doing and I felt bad since there were customers behind me waiting and when I got home I realized he had doubled 26 coupons. I just couldn't figure out where a -$13.00 coupon would have came from, oppsy! that should have been -$2.00.
