Just wondering - about how many coupons do you typically use when you go grocery shopping?

Recently I went and used 40 coupons and the price went from $180 to $51 (which included the Safeway Card savings)

Also, do you mean doubling as in when it is .75 then it is really a $1? If so, then we still have that here as of today

we can double up to 4 coupons max .50 cents each but they stopped putting them in the add so now we all think it is a done deal here ..I only shop at safeway if I have coupons I can use 4 coupons say for .50 of something that is 1.00 and get it free I do that all the time here but that might have come to a end ..boo hoo

Corporate said today it was a mistake doubles will be back next week thanks goodness

I went to Safeway tonight In Salem Oregon and bought only things that I had coupons for and at the end I had to remind the checker to give me my bag credit as well as my doubling. He told me he could only double 4 total & I said that they have done all my coupons before. He did it but I think it was because there was a line & he didn't want to disagree with me Didn't care I got them all doubled!!!!

When does Safeway double coupons? I will I know if my store does it?

I found no double coupons in our ad either so I was a little sad and thought maybe it's the end of saving that extra $2.00 each trip to the grocery store at either Safeway or Albertson's. I had no problems getting Albertson's to take those Safeway double coupons. The coupon can only be used on 4 manufacture coupons up to $.50 each and I always make sure I have 4 or more coupons over $.50 each too to get the extra $2.00 off. Will Safeway still do double coupons this week if you ask the cashier? I'm going to give it a try this week and see what they will do for me.

I think if your Safeway store ads do not have that coupon then they probably do not take them there. My sister lives in Colorado and has never seen one in her store ads and they tell her they don't do it there either. Safeway is the only store around here that has the double coupon offer. I know I've read that other stores like Fred Meyer or Krogers has them too but not in our area so we are lucky to get Safeway to do it here and Albertson's takes all competitor coupons so I shop there when I find good deals.

You all are LUCKY DUCKS!! None of our stores double coupons. I take a lot of time planning my trips each week and matching up my coupons/w sales. I usually walk out of there with a minimum of 65% savings. It's WAAY cheaper for me to shop at Safeway than Walmart if you use your coupons correctly and that's w/o doubling.

They are only suppose to double up to 4 coupons that is there rule at the safeways in Oregon and Washington he should have never doubled all your coupons he should have only done 4 He could have gotten in trouble doing that ..

Yup it says right on the coupon 4 only and there is only 4 lines on the coupon for them to write the $.50 on. If you grab a handfull of those ads when you walk in you can clip away and go throught the register several times maybe but that was not the way they designed that coupon. I think if you use one a day it's ok maybe. Yeah I wonder if that poor guy still has his job at Safeway now. He was just doing his job and knew it was only 4 so customers should not argue with a guy that work there. This is called coupon abuse I think. I wonder how he doubled more than 4 coupons. If eveyone got all the coupons doubled I can see why they are pulling this coupon out of our ads now. I'm still going to pray they bring it back soon.

I just recently started using coupons and discovered the Safeway double coupons and how they work and how you can use them at Albertson's too so yes we really are lucky ducks for sure. Are there any other stores in your area that do double coupons? Safeway is the only one in our area that I know of. Maybe if there is another store in your area that does the double coupon thing you could see if Safeway will honor a competitor coupon and double 4 for you too. I too plan all my shopping trips for a few day's sometimes so I can't just rush out the door like I use too and get what we need. I enjoy watching the faces behind me inline when they see my total go way way down after coupons and they always say gosh I guess I should start using coupons too but I think most people these day's don't have that kind of time since they have full time jobs and kids to deal with too along with everything else so that's good for us couponers.

the one safeway store that has the gas station always doubles all my coupons on matter which checker that I go too.... I didn't ever no that they were only suppose to only double 4 of them..

Yay!!! Guess what I found in our new Safeway store ad??? THE DOUBLE COUPON is back. Thank you thank you Safeway, you made my day. When I was at Albertson's yesterday they would not take my usual Safeway double coupon not only because it was expired but the cashier told me that Safeway was no longer doing double coupons at all ever again. I'm going to go have a nice little discussion with this cashier today and rub the new Safeway double coupon under her nose and tell her I would like to use it and get the $2.00 I think they still owe me and have my receipt from yesterday with me. I told her the double Safeway coupon was coming back and it was just a mistake that it was not in the last 2 store ads but she still insisted that Safeway was no longer doing these coupons anymore. Well I have news for her, ha! teach her to argue with a customer. We customers are always right.

I am trying to figure out if it would ever be worth it to travel over there ... how do the double coupons work? Do you only you get 4 each check out? Or is it per day? Can you go through the checkout multiple times and get 4 coupons doubled each time? It would take forever, but would they allow that?

When did Safeway double coupons? I had no idea!

I'm brand new to this site...and shop Safeway weekly. I've never seen a double coupon in their ad...???? BTW, I'm in California...if that matters.
