| Is this good?
I had a small stockpile of skincare from Mary Kay, when I started couponing. So I only started paying attention to skincare recently. I've seen tons of deals on free or really cheap face cleanser, but I haven't been able to piece together anything for moisturizer and now I'm in desperate need. I did this: (2) garnier moisture rescue uv lotion 12.73 (8.49, 4.24) -(2) $2/1 garnier moisturizer 8.73 Received $3 ups... 5.73 for two or $2.87 each What deals should I be looking for for moisturizer? What price range? |

I think it really depends on if you have a favorite brand. I got a bunch of those Garnier moisturizers for practically free a few months ago, when a weekly and monthly deal overlapped, and I'm not a fan. My favorite moisturizer (and really the only one I use regularly) is Cetaphil cream, the stuff that comes in a big white tub and costs about 14.99 full price. Did a BOGO 50% off sale (with UPS & coupons) on those probably a year ago but they last forever. I think I paid about $5 per tub but for me that was an awesome deal. Things like Suave you can probably get really cheap, so I think it depends on if you have a personal favorite. I'd say $5 or less for the more expensive brands (Cetaphil/Eucerin/CeraVe) is a good deal.

I agree - it depends how brand loyal you are and how desperate you are for moisturizer. I also got a bunch of Garnier moisturizer for free a few months ago, and I normally use Olay, but I was almost all out, so I was really happy with that. I have been couponing for about 2 1/2 years now, and it seems to me that deals for free moisturizer only come along about every 6 months or maybe longer. Of course, you could always just use your UPs that you earned on something else to get it for free. But then you have to start to build your UPs again.

I've used nothing but Mary Kay since high school. I've never tried anything else. So, I guess I'll just have to experiment. Thanks for the input.

If you shop CVS I see different varieties there coming around as free more frequently. I agree at RA it seems about every 6 months and usually Garnier. The deal outlined in the OP isnt horrible provided you will like the Garnier and you have Ups to pay the OOP. I love the moisture rescue gel from Garnier, almost everything else is too heavy for me, especially in the summer. You might be able to score enough free sized bonus samples to hold you over until a free deal comes along by hitting a large department store's cosmetic samples and explaining you are shopping around for a new moisturizer. Often they have deluxe sized samples that will last a week or more so you can really get a feel for if you like the product before you buy. Hit a few different counters and you might be able to get a couple of months worth. |
