Final cost: Out of Pocket: $10.98/four razors
First Transaction: $19.46 with (4+4+3=11UPS)
4 Pantene
2 Soft Soaps
4 Razors

Second Transaction: $8.46 with (4+4+3=11UPS)
4 Pantene
2 softsoap
4 razors

Third, fourth, fifth transaction: $8.46 with (4+4+3=11UPS)

Totals:
20 Pantene
10 softsoap
20 razors
$19.46+$8.46(4)= $53.30 (with 11 in UPS for the next trip)

so $42.30 for 50 items or $.85/item

Sale value:
Pantene (10 conditioners/shampoos) $3.5 x 20= $70
Softsoap $2.99 x 10= $29.90
Razors: $7.49 x 20= $149.80
Total: $249.70
Retail price; probably way more

% savings: ($249.70-$42.30)/$249.70= 83%

Would you say this is a good deal? Or do you think it could be better? I plan to visit on Sunday to reserve the quantities if the transaction looks good.

The sale states liquid hand soap, and I was wondering would they take the coupon for those soaps seeing that the coupons says bodywash?

Thank you very much, this would be my largest trip since couponing

If the coupon is for body wash and the soap is on sale, you should not use the coupon because those are 2 different products.

$8 seems like a high price for 4 razors, that doesnt seem like a stock up price to me. It seems like a 'get a few to hold me over price'. But maybe that's just me.

If you are skipping the razors all together you could buy:
Pantene for $4 OOP
Soft Soap Bars for 0.48 OOP
Pantene for $0 OOP
Soft Soap Bars for 0.48 OOP
Pantene for $0 OOP
Soft Soap Bars for 0.48 OOP
Pantene for $0 OOP
Soft Soap Bars for 0.48 OOP
--------
Total OOP $5.92 for 16 Pantenes and 16 Soft Soaps, still have $ Ups left that you could roll into some razors if you felt you needed some.

First set would be $1.48, subsequent sets would be 2.48 and you would
end with $3 in Ups.

There is no way I would be able to do this in any one store here, there would not be sufficient inventory. I would likely need to hit at least 2-4 stores. Dividing it amongst multiple stores would make it a little more painless on the cashiers also.

Yeah, I wasn't too sure if the razor price was cheap enough, I'll look at the stockpile price list to see if they have an average price. (If you don't mind me asking, what's the cheapest you usually get them for?)

Where I live we have two Rite-Aids, maybe even three that aren't very far apart from each other. haha, we have so many drug stores in the area it's not funny.

I think I'll take on your scenario since it seems like it would turn out better. Looking forward to a razor sale soon though

Thanks again.

Hi Dustin....

I agree with monkey dawn, that is not a stockup price to me either....but I have heard these being a fav among many, I think a stock up price would be close to the $1 range, at most.

If and only if you have patience and time and a Kmart near you, 4 pantene and 2 gillette razors comes out to be a MM'er with a 6.57 OOP and receive a $10 store q to use on your next visit, so you can roll these, check out that forum if that interests you.....So I will be there doing these transactions.

It's a little difficult to go to our Target because it's far away and the cost of gas there and back might even out.
Also thanks for letting me know a stock-up price, I'll wait for the next offer too.

Also thanks for letting me know a stock-up price, I'll wait for the next offer too.
I have gotten oodles of razors for free, once was when there was a newspaper coupon that made them free at Walmart, and the second time I was able to do it at rite aid by rolling the UPs they produced back into buying more of them. These were for disposable ones though, not the fancy pants $10 ones I hate going to walmart though, that was the only down part for me for getting the first batch of free ones. The workers at my walmart tend to make me feel like I am stealing when I get the freebies there . I have only been using coupons since January and I have at least 3 dozen free bags of disposables.

Haha I hope they get a good sale before the fall, I would love to stock up on them before I go to college, Of course I'll be taking couponing with me , just be nice to know I have them. I personally Like the five blades, and technically all i would need are the blades, I feel like I have a base to all the others that were bought before couponing.

I think I thought about it but my totals might not have turned out that way

If I can only use one $4/1 in ad coupon per visit wouldn't it bring my OOP to ($29.97-$4-2($2/1)-$2/1)=$19.97 with $10 UPS though? (sorry I didn't mean to take over this thread dealing with razors)

Sorry I may not be getting it I see coupons for the silk razors and refills $4/1 that could make that transaction work.

thanks for the help, truly appreciated

Break it into 3 Transactions
$9.99 - $4(In Ad) - $2(Mfr) = $3.99
Then do that 2 more times and get your $10 Up Back on time number 3
So you are paying $11.97 Total OOP on the third Transaction and getting a $10 Up Back on Transaction 3.
At least that is what I think I can make of how to do it.

HI Dustin! The most I would pay pre tax for a razor is around a dollar, ever the fancy ones come around for free every so often so there is hope that there will be some freebies in your future, especially if you arent brand specific.

I know back in the stone age when I was starting college (the 1990s ) each spring there would be people handing out bags of various HBA freebies in sample sizes. No coupons then but I did love getting a couple of freebie bags. I wonder if that still happens?

If and only if you have patience and time and a Kmart near you, 4 pantene and 2 gillette razors comes out to be a MM'er with a 6.57 OOP and receive a $10 store q to use on your next visit, so you can roll these, check out that forum if that interests you.....So I will be there doing these transactions.

I just wanted to point out thriftyCAmom said Kmart, not Target. Just in case that is easier for you to get to.

Around here I have no problems using multiple same in ad or coupon booklet coupons in one transaction. If you think the store will be patient enough to do multiple transactions (as per Dustin's first scenario), odds are good that they are friendly enough that using a few in ad coupons wont be an issue. You can go the route where you ask and then abide by whatever the answer is or you can just plain try it and if there is a problem have them void it out, step aside and reconfigure. Personally with RA I usually just go for it. Only once have a had a small issue on the coupon count*...but if I ask permission I would say I am denied about half the time. BTW, I abide by stated MF coupon limits (I mean the limits on the coupon not the RA imposed 4 limit) since I do not want RA to have any issues with reimbursement but I pretty much think of limits on RA coupons as a suggestion since there should not be the potential reimbursement issues.

*I was trying to break up a large 20 Up and with the deals that week I had to use more than 4 coupons/ per transaction to do so...I explained this to the cashier and we did the whole void transaction and I stepped aside trying to figure something else out that didnt greatly increase my OOP. After about 10 minutes the cashier just took pity on me and said he would take my 5th coupon. So the one time I had trouble with that it wasnt even that bad.

Just a little food for thought about doing the transactions sequentially, there is sometimes a tally lagging issue so your Ups may not print. I am getting the impression that you are new to couponing at RA. If that is correct then you you would be out more OOP while you wait for CS to send you the missing Ups. Just based on that potential issue, I would be more likely to just try to do multiples in one transaction, it saves everyone trouble all around. But that's just what I am comfortable with, everyone needs to find his own comfort level when *bending* rules.

Ohhhh, this is what I was looking for thanks

I thought it was purchase the $30 worth of the item in one transaction get the $10 UPS. Didn't think it would carry over.

Thanks everyone, I may try this, if I do I'll let everyone know , also plan to do the pantene and softsoap deal so hoping for the best, keep you posted.

It's a possiblity

Thanks, sadly the closest Kmart is located next to the Target. We have plenty of room in our town, be nice if one would move in. Maybe there's too much competition with the Walmart, two or three Rite-Aids, Walgreens, and others. I must have miss read it, I've only been to each store a few times so to me, not knowing the couponing scenarios that can work, they're pretty much the same. I have been seeing awesome deals that people are posting for those stores in addition to CVS which is a little ways away too.

I'm pretty sure they won't mind, They typically aren't busy when I go. surprisingly I only see maybe two others who are in the store. Maybe I'll ask first to see what they can do. I did the bandaid/neosporin deal and I used the coupons that were recommended and I also found some MQ's that she just pushed through no question

Nice. The people who work for our drugs stores typically are little over my age it appears so they seem to be pretty cool with things.

Thanks, Yeah this will be my third trip, and largest so far. We typically don't go to Rite-Aid and we're slowly learning about how the UPS work. I'll ask to see if I can combined them into one transaction, My thoughts is they might be ok with it just because the people who worked there appeared easy going. But again, my only two transactions have been with people working there my age. The next day I go in could be someone who has enough experience to convince themselves not to allow it.

Here's probably what I would do (special thanks to jb-savin):

Trans A (through however many you wanted to do):
Schick Hydro5 Blade Razor and two refills for 29.97. Use 3 of the $4 in-ad coupons, one $2 off Schick Hydro 5 razor coupon and two $2 off any Schick Hydro 5 Blade refills. Spend 11.97, get back 10.00 UPS!
[quote=monkeydawn;4802475]If the coupon is for body wash and the soap is on sale, you should not use the coupon because those are 2 different products.

OOP$11.97 for first transaction, $1.97 for each transaction after ($2 for 3 seems like an acceptable amount IMO). After you have bought all the razors you want then you do this B:

4 Pantene
2 Soft Soap Bars
4 Wrigleys or whatever other gums are in this deal
Use $10 Up from razors, pay $0.48 OOP, get back 2 $2 Pantene, 2 $2 Softsoap and 2 $1 Gum Ups.

Next Transaction (a repeat of what you just did):

4 Pantene
2 Soft Soap Bars
plus some item for $0.52 (one cowtail plus one laffy taffy would be 0.53 so I will use that as an example).
Use 4 $2 Ups and 1 $1 Up, pay 0.01, get back 2 $2 Pantene, 2 $2 Softsoap Ups

Last Transaction:

4 Pantene
2 Soft Soap Bars
Use 4 $2 Ups, pay 0.48, get back 2 $2 Pantene, 2 $2 Softsoap Ups

This gives a total OOP $12.47 for one razor, 2 refills, 16 Pantenes, 8 soft soaps, 4 gums, 2 cowtails and 2 taffys and you still have $8 in Ups to spend in the future. Plus you would pay 1.97 more for each additional set of 3 razors/ refills that you get. The trick with this is to just get the razors out of the way first since they are the biggest Up increment, this way you wont be struggling in future weeks to break up the big Razor Up.

If there are inventory issues and you do need to visit multiple stores to get all the razors you want, just be sure to buy the razors first (A), then the shampoo/ soap/ gum (B). Then at the next store you can roll the smaller Ups into the next razor set (since they add up to $10 you will only be out the additional tax on the gum as your OOP...probably about 0.32 for each set of transactions). Basically you will repeat transactions A then B until you have what you need. But if you do it this way you end up with a little more gum and $10 in Ups instead of $8 in Ups (but still broken down into smaller increments). Hope this helps you out some! Let us know how you do when you are done!

I have actually talked this specific issue over with a couple of different managers, they allow it with no problems but I wanted to make certain that there wouldnt be any reimbursement issues on their end. Neither manager said that accepting multiple RA coupons in one transaction was an issue for them getting reimbursed and to not worry about doing it. This has been5-6 months ago so I would expect if there had been an issue that they would have let me know by now. So I just do it now without asking. If someone had a problem with it I would, of course, respect the 1/ transaction rule but like I said there have been tallying issues with back to back transactions in the past so they may have to give you a RA gift card or they may direct you to CS if the Ups doesnt print. Generally 15-20 minutes is enough time between transactions for them to keep up the tally.

The 3.5 oz Jack's Links Beef Jerky is an excellent deal this week. It seems to be on sale everywhere this week. But, Rite Aid looks to have the best deal at $2.99. Also, there is a $1.00/1 peelie making them $1.99 per bag. My local Rite Aid didn't have any peelies. But, I found some at Winn-Dixie, where they are on sale for $4.99. I feel silly for actually buying some there, at that price, two days ago.

Just a heads up, I went to coupons.com and entered zip 12345 and up popped a 1.50 off one street king energy shot coupon. It must be new cause I haven't seen it before. Combined with the RA VV for 80 cents off 2 it makes it a sweet deal if you need energy

Why wouldn't you just buy 2 razors if you have multiple cards?

price of two with your b1g1 is $7.49 - $2mq - $3 up = $2.49 for two packs

Not free but not a bad price if you need razors

I may do a couple of those transactions since the b1g1 expires on the 31st and i have the coupons to do it now.

I just agreed that 2 5pk razor refills (10 individuals) + one razor or more refills for $2 is a better deal.

Did one schick deal hope to get a few more tomorrow I did a razor scope when I bought my 12 pantene shampoos today
