I have never had this happen before...but I went to get some free Dentyne Gum on Sunday...and the $1/2 qs didn't scan even though they were obviously matched well to the coupon. Instead of just entering them in manually on the transaction....she made me pay first...and then did separate transactions for a dollar refund for each coupon??? She also didn't enter them as taxable (a constant problem everywhere...my state still allows taxable coupons but cashiers don't seem to understand the concept when I point it out to them...)...so I was jipped out of an extra 20-30 cents. Regardless of that, has anyone ever had a cashier do this? I try not to take up too much cashier time and if I have multiple orders, I check out one and go to the back of the line if there is only one cashier...but ringing the coupons like that took soooo much extra time!

Actually, no confusion by the cashier. My brother lives in northern new haven county in ct and his dm told his store this is his policy for coupons not scanning. Customer pays first, then they will post coupon. Claims that the store gets reimbursed this way for coupons not scanning. Daised, which store did you go to? |

Oh, and before someone reacts, remember this is rite aid. Yes, policies should be followed, but district managers do have some say on how they want stores to do things.

My dentyne scanned through with no problems yesterday, but I do remember the $5 precise having to be done as a post coupon a while back. I didn't mind because I had $5 cash in hand, but it was odd.

I have had this happen once before also. Was told the same thing that for some mfr coupons that wont scan to just pay first and then they will post redeem the coupon for cash. I loved this, because like the pp noted, it is a legit way to turn Ups into cash (pay with Ups, get cash back).

My cashier at RA last time just entered all coupons manually, didn't even try to scan them. I have no idea what is up with RA.

At least we seem to be getting points now for the coupons that are entered manually. I expect that when my points update tomorrow, I will have hit gold. I know that isnt all that impressive to some of you but it is about 2 months ahead of schedule for me. |

You probably have the same district manager that his store has. Last edited by tonyyankees1; 04-23-2012 at 09:47 PM. Reason: add info |

My store has done this. It depends on who's waiting on me.

I went shopping yesterday and 2 of my coupons wouldnt scan. Cashier entered them as cash and said she would go back and do post coupon after transaction was completed. So I didnt have the headache of different transactions but I think thats a very funny way of doing things. What happens when their busy and forgot to go back and do post coupons.

M2C - My store has done this, too. I have also brought forgotten coupons back with my receipt and had them deducted. Yep, also a legal move in the wacky world of RA.
