If it starts with RC or RA, it cannot be used anywhere but at RA, so CAN be combined with a MFC. The RA ones have a long barcode that is flatter too. No one could mistake them for each other, they are so different shaped.
I've been having alot of problems with my Rite Aid lately. So I'm going to point that out (what you said about the coupon codes and such). It even has the RA ad coupon being combined with a manufacturer coupon on the RA circular this week. I might just bring that in and say - look I am allowed because its being done right on your ad.

But really I wrote corporate and asked about this. So hopefully, they say what you say and that we're right. Then I can file a complaint to stop this madness. The manager needs to stop messing with the register.

I would have had them override it but there was no manager on staff or something because the cashiers said they couldn't do anything about the register not accepting it.

As a side note, I did ask about them not accepting certain coupons in quantity. i.e. Them only letting me use one Aussie coupon when they were 2/9 or whatever. Well, the customer service rep. said that I should have been able to use 2 coupons with no problem and to file a complaint. So I did. I really hate the junk that my Rite Aid keeps pulling.

Grrrrr....I had problems at my Rite Aid again with the same coupon-unfriendly cashier that humiliated me last spring (in front of a client, no less, who was in line behind me!). Last time, she was insisting that no IPs are ever accepted at RA.

This time, she insisted that Video Values coupons are considered IPs, and therefore, I cannot use two IPs for one item. I showed her that they are an RA coupon and that they are to be used the same way an RA Q from a magazine or from the sale circular would be used--that they can be combined with a manu Q, even if the manu Q is an IP. She said, "They keep telling us we are NOT supposed to do that, but I'll let it go this time."

Yeah, right. *rolls eyes*

It's unfortunate that these ridiculous incidents have the capacity to ruin one's evening. :-(

Hello XXXX,

I apologize that we did not get back to you sooner with a response to your email, when in fact we did immediate react to the issues you raised. Your original communication made us aware of the need to more effectively train our store teams on our recently modified coupon policies. Over the past several months we have begun using new promotional channels on the internet and have loosened previously conservative policies on coupon acceptance, but apparently did not do a thorough job in educating our stores teams.

Since your original email, we have begun to re-educate our teams around our new policies on coupon acceptance and in fact plan to send another communication package to the stores tomorrow. Tied with this, we have created a “Coupon Policy” for our customers that will be available at our stores upon request (I have attached a draft copy of this document).

Thank you for taking the time to pass along your observations, which became the catalyst for improvement. If you have any further problems in our stores or would like to pass along additional feedback, I would be happy to assist you. You can reach me either by email or at (XXX) XXX-5555.

Sincerely Yours,

VP, Store Operations

Rite Aid Pharmacy

Rite Aid Policy – Coupon Acceptance

To Our Valued Customers:

We gladly accept your manufacturer’s, Rite Aid "valuable" and Internet/Print at Home coupons in all Rite Aid stores as detailed in our coupon acceptance guidelines listed below:

GUIDELINES:

Multiple Coupons

We accept a manufacturer’s coupon and a Rite Aid coupon for the purchase of a single item. However, the coupon redemption amount can never exceed the value of the item.
We accept multiple identical coupons for multiple qualifying items as long as there is sufficient stock to satisfy other customers.
We reserve the right to limit bulk purchases of items if the purchase will deplete our supply for other customers.
Buy One, Get One Free Coupons

We will accept a Buy One, Get One Free coupon for an item that is in our flyer as Buy One, Get One Free. The cash register will compute any sales tax due, which varies by state law.
Internet/Print at Home Coupons

We accept coupons printed off the internet from manufacturer’s websites, emails and coupon websites up to $5.00 off per item.
Rite Aid coupons are not considered internet/print at home coupons, even when they are printed from an internet site or an email, and are therefore not subject to the $5.00 limit.
Total Purchase Coupons

From time to time, Rite Aid features total purchase coupons which discount total purchases based upon meeting specific requirements. For example, $5 off a $25 purchase coupon.
Any manufacturer’s coupons presented with a total purchase coupon will be deducted after the purchase total has been determined.
We will accept more than one total purchase coupon as long as they are used in separate transactions with each transaction meeting the minimum purchase requirements. We reserve the right to limit the number of total purchase coupons that can be used in a given day.
Sale Items

We will accept a manufacturer’s or Rite Aid coupon for an item that is on sale.
In the event that the item is on sale for less than the value of the coupon, we accept the coupon for the retail price of the item. No cash back is given on coupons.
General

Coupons and their face value cannot be exchanged for cash
Competitor coupons are not accepted at Rite Aid.

I wish I had this today when I went there. I had such a horrible time with the shift supervisor. She insisted that the $4/$20 coupon had to be scanned after all other coupons were scanned. Blah blah blah. I called CS right there in the store, they called the store while I was on hold, and the girl wouldn't even pick up the phone to talk to them. I filed a complaint on her. It was such a long story but I won't bore you with the rest of the details. In the end, I used my my BOGO coupons for the HE and my $4/$20 coupon too!

Wow! That's sad when the girl wouldn't even pick up the phone. You did the right thing calling CS while you were in the store and then filed a complaint.

Thanks...when she realized I was on the phone with CS she said "My manager has approved me to use up to 10 coupons". I said "What about the $4/$20?". She insisted it had to be used after the other q's were scanned so I stayed on the phone with CS.

So if a sale item is $2 for example, and I have a $3/1 coupons. I can't use it? They will not adjust? Im confused.

It's not our fault if they have something on sale and the manufacturer doesn't know that and gives out coupons on any product $3/1.

In that case, they would adjust it to $2 if they notice, but if you buy a lot of stuff that will cover the overage, and the cashier scans it without examining everything, it will probably go thru at $3. They will get the $3 back from the manufacturer, so "everybody wins".

I saw the Black friday ad for rite Aid....

They are going to have Intuition Razors for .99! Yes, .99 (I have peelies for $3/1)

They are also going to have the Schick Slim ST razors for $1.99. I have $2/1 coupons plus $3/1 coupons.

Im just hoping I can get some using these coupons.

So Rite Aid will adjust now? I read the whole thread and I thought it read in the rules that if the coupon is more than the item, they cannot accept the coupon. Did this rule change.

You're looking in the pdf? Where does it say "cannot accept" anything? The "Sale Items" part of it says they will accept coupons in exchange for the selling price, and not give cash back. What else would that mean besides them adjusting coupon price?

Guys, as a Rite Aid employee, I feel the need to defend us a little bit, because we're completely getting bashed here. Not only does this information that you get from emailing officials take months and months to flow down to the little stores, a lot of the time, they say what it takes to appease you and then we get told other instructions as well as those ones. Not to mention, at my store, we recently had an employee fired over accepting coupons inappropriately. I forget the actual way they phrased it, but that employee ended up unemployed. I see where you guys are coming from when you're behind the counter and frustrated, but you have to remember that we're just as frustrated. We'd like to accept all of your coupons because, wow, it would make our lives a lot easier not to argue, but we have to be absolutely sure of what our company's response would be if we accept a magnitude of coupons in one go, and letting some slip through that they may not approve of in that situation.

When we call our managers up, and they choose to argue too, it isn't that they don't want you to get the extra money off or that they just want to cause you to have a rough day. As a country, we have about a 10% unemployment rate at the moment and it's even higher in my state. All of us are currently really protective of our jobs and just trying to please the upper management. If you think the wording is sticky and up to interpretation, just imagine how hard it is for us to wade through and make, hopefully, the right decisions.
