I shopped at Rite-Aid this week - the first time in months. They took all my internet copuons with no problem. I had 7 of them. However, I do NOT like to shop there. Their prices are high and it always seems to be a hassle going there. This was a new store in my area so maybe they were a bit more lenient with the coupons. As a side note, I took internet coupons CVS and they were somewhat hesitant to let me use them. I go in that store a lot though, so she finally said it was ok. |

Argh!! Yes, this happened to me just yesterday! I left the store so freakin' upset. I spent 30 minutes carefully planning my purchase and making sure all of my coupons were completely valid. I handed them the $5 off 20(Video Values) first. My cashier was new so he had the manager help him. She was polite in a profesional way, but not in a helpful way. She explained that I would be getting everything for 'free' if they took the coupon. This cost me $5 dollars that wasn't in the plan(or sadly, the budget). I thought about leaving my purchase, but felt like a jerk(I am way too nice in public). She also tried telling me that I couldn't combine the manaQ and the RiteAid Q from the sales paper. I politely corrected her on that, so she had the trainee scan it to see if it would work. Indeed it did. That was the $3 off two Colgate that just so happened to work with their $3 off two Rite Aid coupon. She was giving me grief about the Walgreens on the coupon. I showed her that it said 'available' at Walgreens. It scanned just fine. I have read, and re-read that freakin' coupon trying to find a $25 after coupon clauseto no avail. Corporate will be hearing from me. That was only the second trip I have ever made to Rite Aid. The first trip was littered with signage issues that forced the cashier to leave her register at least twice to verify. I think I will not stray from the TINY CVS a block away ever again. They love my coupons and my business. |

(I guess it would be hard not to be.) They seem to genuinely appreciate your business and the cashiers are mostly intelligent. Those at Rite Aid just don't seem to want to be there and take it out on us!

is this above info stated in a written RA policy or on their website??? Apparently, my store manager isn't aware of this policy as he wouldn't take 2 q's for a product. TIA

| This is the response I received concerning Rite Aids coupon policy. This is from a District Manager. From: Terri A Williams Date: 08/25/09 09:28:46 To: xxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: Terri A Williams Subject: FW: Customer Service Contact Form xxxxx, You are right, our coupon policy has been difficult to understand for not only the customer, but for our associates. I apologize for your inconvenience. As the internet world has changed we as a company have begun to advertise more on the internet and attach coupons for our customers. Our coupon acceptance policy has been reviewed in detail with our store teams in the past 3 weeks to clarify what we are able to accept and not accept. Our efforts are to "Take Care of our Customers" We apprecaite your business. The $5.00 off the $25.00 purchase should be rung in the register first before any manufacture coupons are scanned, this gives the customer benefit of the $25 purchase without manufacture coupon reduction on the sale. Internet coupons from Rite Aid as well as manufacture coupons may be used in the same transaction. Our only stipulation is we do not accept a manufacturer coupon off the internet for over the amount of $5.00. I have personally spoke to all store managers regarding our policy and specifically the Archbold and Wauseon stores. Please accept my apology for your incovenience, we certainly appreciate your business. Please feel free to contact me via email if your have any other questions. Terri Williams District Manager |

I had an issue recently with a cashier not accepting IPs. I submitted a complaint online and received an email response in about 2 days. I asked my customer service contact person to email me their corporate coupon policy. Also, the manager of the store I complained about personally called me and said that he would gladly give me cash for my coupons that were initially refused. To avoid future frustration, I now carry a copy of this email I received: From: Inquiry Account (inquiry@riteaid.com) Sent: Fri 7/17/09 11:59 AM To: xxxxxxx Coupons, and their face value, cannot be exchanged for cash. Front-end competitor coupons will not be honored at Rite Aid. Coupons are to have av alid expiration date, those that are expired or ineligible will be returned to the customer. One internet coupon can be used per item; however, there is a $5.00 limit one ach internet coupon. Similar to manufacturer's coupons, only one internet coupon is accepted for each item, unless coupled with a manufacturer's or valuable coupon found in a Rite Aid circular. When items are featured on a Buy One, Get One Free promotion, up to two coupons can be used against the items being purchased, as long as the netprice does not go below zero for the item being purchased. The register will automatically calculate any sales tax due on a zero sales transaction based upon your state and local laws. Carrie Customer Support |

This is the e-mail I received today from Rite Aid Corp. This is in response to asking for a printable policy with the Rite Aid logo that I could carry with me to the store as to avoid any other problems. Mandy, Thank you for taking the time to contact us. The $5 off coupon is to be taken off first, followed by any other coupon the customer may have. One internet coupon can be used per item; however, there is a $5.00 limit on each internet coupon. Similar to manufacturer's coupons, only one internet coupon is accepted for each item, unless coupled with a manufacturer's or valuable coupon found in a Rite Aid circular. When items are featured on a Buy One, Get One Free promotion, up to two coupons can be used against the items being purchased, as long as the net price does not go below zero for the item being purchased. BOGO coupons may also be used, as long as they are not used in an excessive amount (no more than 2 BOGO coupons per transaction). When items are on clearance, a coupon may not be used. A cashier is not permitted to alter the coupon, so if the coupon exceeds the amount of the item the coupon will not be honored. I do not have the policy to send on Rite Aid letterhead. The information I have provided, is per the Corporate Policy that all stores are to follow. Carrie Customer Support |

| Rite Aid Coupon Policy
I've pretty much found that it varies by store despite what corporate says. I've had some managers tell me I can use this or that and other say I can't. My "old" RiteAid was really strict about following everything right to the letter. The "new" one I go to is more lenient. The cashiers don't seem to have a clue and the manager isn't much better. I've had good success using whatever coupons I want there |

There is a new official policy which I will be posting in a new thread right now. Everything should be smooth sailing from now on. Rite Aid really does care that their coupon policy has been confusing.

My Rite Aid is pretty good about coupons so far, probably because the manager is a couponer himself. But I worry some of these policies might one day start becoming issues for me too because most of the cashiers get really upset about my coupons when the manager is not there. One cashier actually said my trend of shopping in bulk several times a week was wasteful and turned up her nose at me.... I don't think people understand the value of stocking up when an item is on sale, then not having to buy it for 3 to 6 months. Or as one poster said above, they automatically assume that you are somehow being 'fraudulent' with coupons if you are getting things for free! Of course it couldn't be that you are just being very wise and taking advantage of coupons to the fullest advantage to save money!! I agree it is very frustrating to feel accused of something or treated like you are a nuisance when you are following the rules and actually working hard to save money, not doing anything illegal!

Here's what I received today. Karen, Rite Aid gladly accepts manufacturer coupons, Rite Aid coupons and certain Internet/Print at Home coupons in all stores as detailed in these coupon acceptance guidelines: GUIDELINES: Multiple Coupons - Rite Aid accepts manufacturer coupons and Rite Aid coupons for the purchase of a single item. However, no coupon's redemption amount can ever exceed the price of the item. - Only one manufacturer coupon is accepted for each product, unless coupled with another manufacturer coupon found in a Rite Aid circular. - Rite Aid may accept multiple identical coupons for multiple qualifying items as long as there is sufficient stock to satisfy other customers within the store manager's sole discretion. - Rite Aid reserves the right to limit bulk purchases of items if the purchase will deplete our supply for other customers. Buy One, Get One Free Coupons - When items are featured on a Buy One, Get One Free promotion, up to two coupons can be used against the items being purchased, as long as the net price does not go below zero for the item being purchased. - If a customer presents a Buy One Get One Free coupon for the purchase of two items that are on a Buy One Get One Free promotion; we accept the coupon, essentially making both items free. - Be advised that the cash register will compute any sales tax due, which sales tax varies and is defined by applicable state law. Internet/Print at Home Coupons - Rite Aid only accepts coupons printed off the internet from manufacturer's websites, emails and coupon websites up to a maximum of $5.00 off per item as long as the coupon redemption amount never exceeds the price of the item. - Rite Aid coupons are not considered internet/print at home coupons, even when they are printed from an internet site or an email, and therefore these coupons only are not subject to the $5.00 limit. Total Purchase Coupons - From time to time, Rite Aid may feature total purchase coupons which discount the total purchase amount based upon meeting specific requirements. For example, $5 off a $25 purchase price threshold coupon. - Any manufacturer coupons that may be presented with a total purchase coupon will be deducted after the purchase total has been determined. - Rite Aid may accept more than one total purchase coupon as long as each total purchase coupon is used in separate transactions with each transaction meeting the minimum purchase requirements. Rite Aid reserves the right to limit the number of total purchase coupons that may be used by a customer in a single day. Sale Items - Rite Aid will accept coupons for an item that is on sale. - In the event that any item's selling price is less than the value of the coupon, Rite Aid will only accept the coupon in exchange for the selling price of the item. Coupon redemption can never exceed the selling price of an item and no cash back is ever provided in exchange for any coupons. General - Coupons and their face value cannot be exchanged for cash - Competitor coupons are never accepted at Rite Aid. Corey Customer Support

Here is the one I got last week, it's very similar to the way I posted in the sticky up top. I email them every few months to make sure it's up to date: Thank you for taking the time to contact us. Coupons, and their face value, cannot be exchanged for cash. Front-end competitor coupons will not be honored at Rite Aid. Coupons are to have a valid expiration date, those that are expired or ineligible will be returned to the customer. The register will automatically calculate any sales tax due on a zero sales transaction based upon your state and local laws. Carrie Customer Support I am going to add this to the sticky (with an update to the title) for easier reference. Thanks!
