Do you re-use glass bottles?

Yeah, so now that I have 8+ 6-packs of Snapple, I'm going to feel very badly if I just throw them [the glass] out in the garbage.

My husband has been wanting to refill plastic bottles with water, but we're talking about the kind you'd find in a 24 pack of h20 you'd buy from the store, not a nice one made for refilling that wouldn't leach chemicals back into the water, know what I mean?

What about these Snapple glass bottles? Obviously, one would have to be careful about dropping them and such considering they are glass, but I see no reason why they couldn't be cleaned in the dishwasher like any other dish. The caps would probably have to be hand-washed.

Do you reuse any glass beverage bottles this way?

Good idea. I might have to buy some beverages in glass bottles to try this. At one time I had a huge collection of glass jars... mayonnaise, BBQ sauce, jelly jars, in boxes in the garage in case I needed them. I couldn't throw them away. But I'm down to just a couple in the cupboard now. I have saved salad dressing bottles with a similar small neck where you can't get your hand in there to scrub, but I use them for traveling with the cole slaw juice.

Yup, I have a collection of bottles on my kitchen counter. I found a recipe for homemade Snapple, so I am going to give it a try and reuse the bottles for that recipe. I figure if I can fill them and pop them in the refrigerator, I can grab one as I leave for work in the morning. It beats buying soda (which I don't drink unless there's no other alternative) and I'll be saving money at the same time.

I was tempted by the snapple rebate and then passed on it because of the wasteful packaging of what is basically water.

If I had bought it though, heck yeah I'd reuse the glass bottles for water instead of plastic ones. I have enough mason jars though that I don't keep other glass jars or bottles around now.

I also upgraded my microwave lunch containers this year to ceramic giant mugs with handles and lids because of concerns about plastic.

I reuse a lot of my glass bottles for just about everything. I do not reuse snapple just recycle as we pay CRV on them which I can get back. I filled old mason and mayo jars in the layered cookie mix and spray painted the lid for Christmas presents. I make my own jam to store in refrig and I use the left over sterlized jars because we eat it so fast and kept in refrig so does not need to sealed. Plus if I want to give neighbors stuff I put in jar or recycled coolwhip type container so they do not have to give back. If I do get too many jars I do put in recycle.

We have mandatory recycling here. Surprised there is no recycling in your area. We do not pay deposit on our bottles, but get recycling pickup every two weeks for plastic, glass, newspapers and cardboard and more. There are recycling bins here everywhere including stores and not just for glass, but for plastic and newspaper etc. I am so used to it, we have had it for so many years I am shocked none in your area.

Sometimes i will reuse them.
But I do reuse plastic bottles. Like right now I am using the 12 oz bottles of Gatorade, and refill them with soda.
The soda doesn't lose the carbonation at all.

We recycle all our glass, plastic, paper and cardboard. However, I have so many mason jars that I got off craigslist for free that I never really need to reuse jars. We got a 90 gallon polycart from our trash company and they pick up every other week for $9 a month, it's great because we don't have to separate. We fill it to the brim!

I reuse some bottles. I have some Starbucks bottles I use to carry a little milk to the farm when I am going overnight. I use glass jars for grease storage, then screw the lid on and throw away when full. I don't like to put grease down my sink.

I love the bug juice bottles. I save them and make kool-aid or another beverages and fill them right up. Keeps drinks cold and can be taken on the run and sharing drinks with friends won't make my cups disappear. I have also been know to put milk in them when we are going somewhere in the summer and that way I can toss them if I find I need to. When traveling in the summer kids can hide the cups and finding bad milk in an expensive sippy cup is just awful. You can also fill them 3/4 of the way up and put them in the freezer for an hour or so and shake them up for a icy drink.

I reuse glass bottles and jars for all kinds of things. Some of our school, craft, and office supplies are stored in old glass jars (from things like spaghetti sauce and such), I use bottles that don't have reusable caps as vases, I keep BTFEs in an old baby food jar, I've used baby food jars to mix up my own first aid creams and to store small amounts of coconut oil for use on diaper rashes, plus a whole bunch of other stuff.

I also reuse big plastic bottles as watering jugs for my plants, and our vet told us to put our diabetic cat's used syringes in old 2-liter soda bottles (we then bring them to her for disposal when the bottles get full, she charges a flat rate of $10 no matter how many you bring in).
