RECALL: Excedrin®, NoDoz®, Bufferin® and Gas-X® Prevention® products Novartis OTC Consumer Product Updates Website Novartis Consumer Health (NCH) is voluntarily recalling all lots of select bottle sizes of Excedrin® and NoDoz® products with expiry dates of December 20, 2014 or earlier as well as Bufferin® and Gas-X® Prevention® products with expiry dates of December 20, 2013 or earlier, in the United States. NCH is taking this action as a precautionary measure, because the products may contain stray tablets, capsules, or caplets from other Novartis products, or contain broken or chipped tablets. As this is a voluntary recall at the consumer level, Novartis Consumer Health advises consumers who have purchased these recalled products to discontinue use and return them to Novartis Consumer Health for a full refund. Consumers that have the product(s) being recalled should contact the Novartis Consumer Relationship Center at 1-888-477-2403 (available Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time) for information on how to return the affected products and receive reimbursement. Consumers also may click here to obtain a form to obtain a refund. These actions have been communicated to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). We are working closely with the FDA and will continue to do so throughout this process. Additional information may also be found on the FDA website at U S Food and Drug Administration Home Page.

| Novartis OTC Consumer Product Updates Website Every bottle of Bufferin and Excedrin in my stockpile falls under the recall. (I feel bad, too, because all the product I gave away as stocking stuffers also probably is being recalled.) The Bufferin was from Rite-Aid, but all of the Excedrin I bought is from CVS. Most of it was purchased around Black Friday or in the week or two afterward. Anyway, I can't get through to their 800 number because it's always busy. Has anyone gotten through yet? I want to see what they'd do -- replace our products with non-recalled ones, or simply give us a voucher of some sort. Anyone know?

| Wow! I've been on hold for 33 minutes so far...I'd like to talk to them before I just package up my bottles and send them out. From what I understand, they'll reimburse us the full retail value for each product + two dollars for shipping, per item. I want to verify this via phone first, though...

I have also gotten a busy signal when I have tried calling. If you click on the link on the webpage for the form it says you will be reimbursed retail value plus $2 s//h for the returned products. That, to me, implies that you will need to ship the products back. I have about 20 bottles that fall under the recall specs and the form doesnt really allow for multiples. I dont want to print and fill out 20 forms so I am hoping that it is possible to give the info via a phone call IF I can ever get through. If anyone has gotten through via phone, please let us know what info you were given. The form also has a spot to indicate if you would like to be informed when the products are available again. To me, that implies that all currently available products are affected. Funny, since I dont think they are being pulled from the shelves at stores. Another reason that I am hesitant to just send the items in with the form without any kind of proof is I just got my Prevacid rebate...for $2. I was expecting $13.59 and there was no explanation as to why the amount was so significantly decreased. I never would have paid $11.49 for it. It also took them 14 weeks to process the refund. As far as I can tell there is not contact information other than the original mailing address so that I may contact them to find out the issue. I was not contacted by them to let me know of the delay or why the rebate was decreased. They are all under the same parent company of Novartis which is why I am bringing this up with reference to the recall. Kind of have no faith anything would be given to me if I send all the products in. |

Here's the news story my local news did. Excedrin, Bufferin Recall on Broken, Mislabeled Pills - WBOC-TV 16, Delmarvas News Leader, FOX 21 - You can find the company website there and the form is located on there. If I am reading it right, it's because of broken pills? And some mislabel? But if you are taking it, you would notice it doesnt look like the others and so on.. I would think? |

I just got through. A CSR took the names, lot numbers, and UPC's from each of my products. She said she is going to send me a reimbursement form via postal mail, and said I'll receive payment for the full retail value of each of the products + two dollars for shipping. (Although I DO have six bottles, and I think shipping is probably going to be higher than $2.) The wait time was 35 minutes, though. I'd recommend calling sometime in the afternoon, maybe! I imagine call volume might slow down then.

| Excedrin recall
Hi guys. If you're like me, you stocked up on the Excedrin deal. There is a recall on them as of this morning for any with an expiration before 12/14. All of mine were before this date. There is a form available on their website, novartisotc.com. I called this morning and was told there was no need to send the actual product to them, just the upc label from each container. I was also told that I should fill out one form per type of excedrin, so 1 form for the extra strength and 1 form for the PM type. Looks like we'll be getting about $2 back for each bottle. Works for me

It seems like the above mentioned could have been mixed up with prescription drugs. I'm on my phone so I can't link the site, but I got an emal from web md. I figured with all the mm on some of these products you guys would want to know.

I called them today and they said they will reimburse at the full retail value for each product. Every bottle of Excedrin and Bufferin in my stockpile fell under the recall!

| i cant find the thread to prevacid i wanted to post that my son only got $2!! and see what is going on with everyone elses. MINE hasnt come back yet. I blackened out all but the prevacid and coupon. son didnt. He doesnt know what to do about only getting $2. i'd like to get some suggestions and info!

So, I only got 4 free bottles on Black Friday - not things we use often. But we have used them all up and I am sorry to say there was not a prescription strength pain reliever in any of them... I'm SURE I would have noticed. |
