"Cool Stuff" They Should Teach You in School

Great book for teens about managing money, jobs people skills and more. It was written by teens, for teens. It is a pretty practical book that doesn't 'talk down' to kids while trying to give them some advice about the practical things they need to know.

You can read an article written by the author here:
http://www.afullcup.com/upload/cmps_...?page=article9

You can also enter to win a copy of the book on the same page.

Good, practical book that I recommend. I don't think there is enough emphasis put on teaching kids practical skills in school.

Anyway, read the article and use this area to comment on it.

I loved the article and it is very true. So many children grow up wanting and parents are giving in to what they want....Not what they need.

Thank God that both of my children are savers...my DD more than my DS, but they don't spend it without an ok from Mom. My daughter is only 12 and she would rather have money for Christmas than presents so that she can put it in the bank. She has save over $2,000 from variuos modeling jobs, B-day money, allowance ($3 a week), etc. My son has over $1,000 and has boughten himself a dirtbike.

I know that my children will know how to balance a checkbook while they are in school and will not have a CC until they know that they will need to pay it off once it becomes due. Who wants to pay $5 for a meal at McD's when all you paid at first was $3.

I definately am going to buy this book. As my children grow older, they will also read it and understand how to better themselves at the control of money.
