Starting this week, Ralphs are running the same promo that I've noticed Kroger shoppers have been posting about lately, the "Mix & Match Buy 10 & Get $5 Off" promo.

Well, for the 1st time since Ralphs switched their policy to only doubling up to $1, I got excited about this promo, because they had some items I would normally buy in the deal ~ like Lean Cuisine entrees would be $1.50 after the $5 Off and I also had Qs for some of the items. So, I decided to go in this morning to purchase:

6x LCs ~ $1.50 after $5 Off
1x Clorox Bleach ~ $1 after $5 Off
1x Lady Speed Stick 24/7 ~ $1 after $5 Off
2x Lysol Wipes ~ $1.50 after $5 Off

After the cashier rang up my order, the total seemed higher than I thought it should be, so I asked if it had taken off the $5 Off as part of the promo? She checked the receipt and said no it didn't........AND then came up with the excuse that you had to purchase only the items that were in the same price range ~ HUH!!! So she meant that the $5 would only come off it I purchased 10 items that were $1.50 after the $5 Off or $1 after the $5 Off ~ WHAT??!! I thought this was supposed to be a "MIX & MATCH" event???

Anyone else have this happen to them??

Might be, because I bought 20 items and only one $5 came off...

I didn't catch it until I was already home.

I was wondering if that was going to be the case. They were pretty uptight about it when they ran a similar promotion a few months ago. I poured over the ad, but couldn't find any info about whether the items needed to be from the same category. I noticed the selections with each category were limited. Thank you for saving me from what would've been a very disappointing trip to Ralph's! I have pretty much stopped shopping there since they rolled out their new coupon policy.

No it should be any of the items advertised, I keep track of how much should come off the total, and go to customer service and get the difference back.

Like scrapnladybug said, I think it's for the purchase of any 10 items with the mega event price tag ~ it's supposed to be "mix & match!"

Frankly, I just think that their registers haven't been programmed properly and to be quite honest, I also think the cashier was making it up But, whatever! I just returned the 2 $1 items and got 2 more of the $1.50 (after $5 Off) items.

This just confirmed to me that Ralphs is not such an inviting store anymore, so unless they have some awesome deals to pull me in, Vons/Pavilions will pretty much be my mainstay grocery retailer

I just called 2 local Ralph's (San Diego) and both said the same thing: you cannot "mix and match" between price categories to get the deal.

Well that just takes the cake!!! WHY call it a "Mix & Match!!!"
