OK, so my friend just called me from her shopping trip at Publix, where they told her that she was only allowed to purchase 2 BOGO items. Has anyone else had the same thing happen to them? They told her that 2 ladies had been in the store earlier that day & got $200 worth of groceries for only $6 and because of that they were implementing this policy...CRAZY!!! Don't they know that for every coupon used they get paid +8cents! |

All stores have the right to limit their specials. I don't get it either, but it's up to the mgr. they can tweak the policy it's all up to them. Now the Publix I shop at they do not limit their items. But they could start, and when they do I will just have to make mulitple trips |

I have to be honest, whilst the manager does have the right to impose limits to a degree, I think you would find the area manager and corporate would have a REALLY hard time accepting this. My suggestion would be to talk to the manager directly as sweetly as possible. If that doesn't work I would ask him for the phone number of the area manager so you can find out which stores in the area are not imposing limits. I think you will find this was merely a quick and silly reaction to one shoppers experience by staff who do not understand they are making money from people with coupons and therefore should treat them with the same respect as all other shoppers. I rarely have problems with cashiers anymore as I made a point right from the start to get to know as many of them as possible and always have a laugh with them. Some people just don't understand coupons and need a bit more education to know how truely beneficial it is to all parties concerned! |

If the ad states quantity rights reserved -they do have the right to limit how many deals you can get. My store has it in the computer - it will ring up the allowable limit then it starts ringing them at regular price. However, separate transactions cannot be tracked so my husband and I shop together sometimes doing a transaction each 2days a week - that way we get max for our time and trip there.

my stores have never limited but they do have the right to id ask like someone said tho --- if u simply talk to them maybe they are willing to keep u shopping in their store instead of u making a decision to go to a store that mite not limit u HTH

I would call corporate. There used to be a "Limit 2" on each item, on each sign at Publix, some stores blocked it out, now, its just a "quantity" rights in the ad. I would call/email corporate, and say you tried to buy 4 items and had a problem. |

on the BOGOs, Publix is absorbing the 'free' item, not the manufacturer...manufacturer's typically only reimburse for Qs, not store sales prices

I have never heard of a limit. I know that when I got a raincheck at Publix, they would only give me two of the BOGO rainchecks. I hope that makes sense

| Publix doesn't "absorb" the cost of the free item. Publix (as well as other grocery stores) work with the manufacturers to come up with special pricing for items in the weekly ads. The manufacturers receive advertising space in the sales circulars, special shelving consideration in stores, special product placement/displays, etc. for the duration of the sale. The pricing is a balance in what will bring customers to the store to purchase the particular advertised item & other related items, what will bring customers into the store in general, what will bring customers into certain aisles/sections of the store and possibly influence how long customers will spend in the store shopping for all their grocery needs.

I understand what everyone is saying and my 5 star store tells me to let them know and they will order they quanity I need if I need alot of them. Yesterday I was at a store and bought several of the Barilla Pasta, Yakisoba noodles and some revlon beauty tools and 10 (12 pks of Pepsi) and my total started out 93$ and some change. The cashier took all the MQ's and then the total was 25.18$ and I handed her the store coupons for the 2$ off any Revlon item. I had 14 of them for 4 of the clippers, 6 of 1 emry board and 4 of the other one. She wasn't sure if she shold take the whole 2$ or just the difference. While waiting I asked if she could suspend my order and send me to Customer Service so I wouldn't hold up the line. While waiting up there the store manager came over and explained that he could take the store coupons until the order his zero though not give me cash back and he said if he takes all the store coupons he would owe me 2.82$ and I asked how about I add another 12 pk to the order. Then he smiled and said that a girl go ahead and looked at the CSM and stated we are giving money back but we aren't giving money back. After adding another 12 pk of Dr. Pepper my total was 45 cents to walk out. The funny part I was talking to my DH on the cell phone en route to the truck and told him how much I spent for all of it and as he was laughing a man next to me getting in his vehicle stopped and stepped back out and said I will give you 20$ for everything in the buggy right now. I about fell out and thought I was on Blooper's. Needless to say I told DH hold on and was looking around for the camera's while politely saying I better not. Good Luck All. Alana. Madmurphy... you are absolutely right... manufacturers provide stores with what is called Co-Op advertising... this is where they pay for a portion (if not the entire expense) and the stores can use this to pay for their advertising - providing that they are advertising the manufacturers product somewhere in the advertisement. |

My Publix will only give a raincheck for 2 BOGO deals even when the item is not listed as quantity limited. Asked them how many I could buy if it were in stock and was never given an answer. I've done 5 deals before with no problems but can only get a raincheck for 2. Silly rule. Just means I have to drive 5 miles out of my way to go to another Publix to get the ad special or another raincheck if they're out also.

At my store I have seen signs that say quantity limited in small print, though they have never said anything to me. I think the most I have bought at a time was 4, though I have made more than one trip to get stuff when it's something really good.
