To buy or not 2 buy??? I am debating over buying this for my kids for Christmas this year. I have a 8,7,5 and 3 year old. I am not a big fan of the gaming systems but this seems 2 be different then my kids just sitting infront of the tv all day....So please give me your thoughts on them either way...THanks!!!

The Wii is awesome! DH and I play almost every night!

You definitely have to stand up and really "play"; like for bowling, you have to swing your arm like you are actually bowling. Watch out though, for us "older people", when you first start playing, you can be really sore the next day!

Another thing that is good is that the Wii Sports game that comes with the Wii is lots of fun, so you don't have to spend a bunch of money up front on games right away. Which is great, since games are pretty expensive.

Darn! I just typed out a whole long rave on this game/s, then somehow lost it before it posted. Oh well.........
Long story short: BUY IT!!!! Its great for the whole family.
Basic price nowadays is $199 and starts you off nicely with the sports games (bowling, golf, tennis, baseball and boxing)
I also just ordered from Target.com a Wii fit game and the balance board for $99 w/free shipping and a 4% cash back rebate from Ebates.com....very good deal.
AND, as per another post from today Look back in "today's posts" Target has buy 2, get 1 free on Wii games this week, and they provided a link for a $10 off 2 Q. I play on stocking up for Christmas!
In short, try it, you'll love it.........with the sales out there, the games are not that expensive anymore.

My DH and I were discussing this last night also. I thought the $199 price was decent and matched with targets B2G1F stacked with the $10/2 target coupon is an awesome deal if you can find any of the $14.99 games that you might like.

Not at this time. I am however going to target tomorrow and will be more than happy to jot down a list of them, but hopfully someone will be going today and can look as well.

Thank you--I was wondering if this was worth getting. I am not all that crazy about "gaming" either but thought this might be different. I am collecting gift cards from deals and hoping for a 10% off from credit card or prescriptions to bring down cost. And now with the games deal. Some one on another thread bought six $14.99. Ended up with 2 free games. Used 3 $10/2 and ended up paying $30.00 total. I wonder if this would be YMMV with using 3 of the target holiday toy coupons.

It IS expensive, and I agree with not really liking gaming systems, but the Wii is really fun!!!!!!!!!!! Great family involvement.

I went last night and the low priced ($14.99's) were wiped out! Ended up getting 2 $49.99 games (new releases) and 1 $39.99 game that included an extra remote which was free with the b2/1free deal, plus the $10 off 2 Q.
Expensive yes, but we're oldies and it wasn't a big deal for us. Just too bad all the bargain hunters beat us to the cheaper games.
Still it IS fun for everyone in the family, young and old.
The rehab and nursing homes around my area in NY are employing the Wii games in their activities to encourage movement and involvement.

LOL Princess, talk about a pulled muscle in the leg like me, are ya? DH and I bowl a lot now, but the 1st couple of times.........overdid it big time!

I got one for my kids last year. IT IS AWESOME!!
The whole family loves it. It is soooo much better in my opinion than other gaming systems because they actually have to get up and move around. It is a heck of a work out too sometimes. I have the fitness for myself and let me tell you, it will wear you out.
I personally think it was a great purchase, even though it was a little pricey.

I wasn’t going to buy a video game system, but thought the Wii would be different. What I have found out is that while there are many games which you have to get up and move to play there are just as many games that you can sit and play like a regular video game. For ex. Mario Super Smash Brothers and Lego Star Wars. My 9 year old son would prefer to play these games while my 6 year old daughter prefers the games on Wii sports. As long as you are aware what type of game you are buying I think everyone can have fun and get a little workout. (You should see my 6 year old daughter box – she works up a sweat trying to knock her brother out!) All in all I would say yes buy one and try to get in on the deal Target is running on the games this week. Make sure to get an extra controller too.

I think it is great family game system. We bought it last yr. for Christmas and the kids love it including mom and dad. Good Luck and I am sure your family will love it too!
