Help Sign Printing in Black and White

I would like to know how to go about printing the brinks coupons in black and white? I have set up my printer to only print with black ink cartridge but I think the software for the brinks overrides my printer preferenes or something. I am going through a ton of color ink and I dont know how to fix this problem. I would appreciate any info. Thank so much.

Unfortunately most printers require the color cartridge to be in place in order to work. I got rid of my color ink jet printer and got a color laser since I was so tired of replacing color cartridges that I never used. As for the Bricks coupons - no idea I always print them in color.

Not if you change your settings in the Printer Properties, there is NO way that Brick's can change that setting. But, I have noticed that stores I have been at will not take Black and White Printed coupons and they do not like the coupon or coupons on really thin copy paper. Maybe other members have better results, I know I don't.

Happy Coupon Printing!

Okay, go to your start button, select settings, select printers and faxes, right click on your printer, select printing preferences, if you have a "color" tab select it, then choose "print in grayscale." You may have to click on "apply" to save the setting.

Let me know if this doesn't work for you...works for me. I have an HP printer.

I have a B&W laser printer too because desk jet ink jet printers just drive me up the wall. They're so finicky! I finally decided I don't care if I can't print in color anymore and I bought a $88 HP laser printer. LOVE IT!

I have never had a single problem redeeming B&W printed Qs. I print all of my coupons on paper that's already been printed on once. (Old internet research that I don't need anymore, etc.) Some coupons even have hadnwritten notes and highlighters on the backs. No one seems to care as long as the barcode scans. All my grocery stores accept them and so does walmart.

THis is what I have done. Everything else prints out in b&w except Brinks for some odd reason. I too have an HP. Weird. Oh well, I guess theres no way around it with my particular printer or something.

Hmmm...you may have to adjust your settings before each print - bummer. Well, you can't say you haven't tried! I love your slogan btw!

Happy Coupon Printing!
Howard is correct: you must go into the Control Panel then find your printer, then change your Printer Properties to b/w. Sj68 is also correct: many printers will not print if an ink cartridge is not in place.
NEVER take out a color cartridge from an ink jet to leave that spot empty, You risk drying up the Ink Jet Nozzle, thus RUINING your printer, or possibly costing you repair dollars at a shop. Also: when you are given a signal to change your cartridges, do so Immediately, do Not leave the printert for a day or two or longer, again, the ink jet nozzles will dry, then when you go to replace the new cartridge, your printer might not work, still acts like it needs a new cartridge, as the nozzles are plugged w dryed on/ink & cannot suck ink from the new cartride. I know, I did this & cost me $100 repair costs on my photo printer.
Also while you are at it, change the setting from "Draft" to "image & text", this takes a little more ink, but will give a crisper, cleaner looking q, as the ink drops are finer & the printed q should scan better.

Same thing here: I save all my used one sided paper, & for that matter, save the 1/2 sheets, too, as can feed both back into my printer & use. Even use paper that coin the mail, as long as no personl info on it. Why Not recycle paper? The insert qs have writing on the back, so no problem w IPs.

Both of my Epson printers, the photo Stylus 2200 & R280: will stop printing when it senses no paper to print on. I do not know if other Epsons or other ink jets do this, you will have to try, & you will save on ink Big Time!
I know, now you are scratching your head,,,,
We all know that the majority of Bricks qs & certain other qs are printed at the top of the paper. Sometimes a q is printed at the top of the paper, but there is a mnfctr. ad or recipe after that.

That is when the Print Preview that you selected on your Printer Properties comes in handy: you can see where the coupon will print on the pg. Before the printer prints the q. If I see that the q has an ad after it, I put in 1/2 or 1/3 or some cases 1/4 piece of paper. The q prints, then my printer quits, as it senses no paper to print on. There, now I've just saved a Ton of colored or black ink by NOT printing that ad or recipe!! Yippee!!
Anyone that tries this w a different printer than mine, give a shout out as to whether or not it worked.

Another printing tip: I print only 1 q at a time when printing from coupons.com, bettycrocker.com, etc. This way I can use those 1/3 or 1/4 sheets of paper up, why waste what you've paid for??

Thank you for all the tips on printing on 1/2 sheets and the backsides of pages that have already been used. Since you lovely people have suggested this I have been printing away this morning with no problems. I do not anticipate any problems at the store either. Thanks so much for your great money saving tips.

Using this logic... what happens when someone copies a color coupon using a color copier? They'll think it's an original just because it's in color. B&W or color no longer is a distinguishing feature for IP!

Thankfully, I have not had trouble w/ any of my B&W IP. I too print on scrap paper that is printed on the back side. Never a problem (knock on wood - LOL).
