| 50% double rule help
First of all what exactly is the rule? Isn't it something like you cut your origional order price in half and they stop doubling? Im pretty sure but want to confirm. And could I get around it by....... buying a package of meat or 2 with my order? |

First they total up everything (without the advantage specials taken off) - then they'll subtotal it and it'll take off the advantage specials. All coupons will double up to the point where your bill reaches half of that subtotal. So if your total bill was $29 and after advantage savings were subtracted you got a total of $20, you could use eleven 50cent off coupons, but only 10 of them would double - since once you get down to the $10 mark, it will still take of the Q's - just not double them. Buying a chunk of meat would help - but I've also heard other people say they'll toss on a $5-$10 GC for PC if it's close or going to go over the half way mark.

Yeah, I learned the hard way when I went to use my 50cent mccormic Q's when they were 99cents - I had tossed in a bunch of grapes, but I still lost out the doubling on about 5 of the ones I had. Ouch.

I haven't had an issue with this at my local stores. What has happened is while the cashier is ringing up my coupons the register has made a weird noise and the cashier would either call a manager or front end supervisor over. When they come over they input a code into the register and the cashier resumed scanning my coupons. When this first happened I inquired as to what occurred, and the cashier said they had to call someone over because I was "saving too much" and they needed a supervisor's ok to proceed. When I looked at my receipt, all coupons that should've been doubled were doubled. Apparently there are safeguards in place when someone has a large amount of coupons to trigger an "alarm" for a supervisor to check it out and confirm there is no fraud occurring. I don't know if this still works but I remember years ago I would sort my coupons with the highest value to be doubled on top followed by lesser values. Under those would go the coupons that couldn't be doubled like the $1 ones. That way the ones on top would be sure to get doubled and so on. At least this system would work if they do have a cut-off and your higher value coupons would get doubled first and your lesser valued ones might not if you've reached the limit. That way your "losses. are somewhat minimized. |
