Puppies

What type of puppy food has everyone used? I had coupons for Iams and our pups seem to like. Now though that I ran out of coupons I was worried I couldn't afford, but went to grocery outlet and they had it as same price as coupon price that target offered. So pups are still on it. Guess till they run out they will stay on it if not need a new brand.

I would look for one that does not have grains as the first ingredient. It is a filler for dogs. That being said look for the best that you can afford, changing pet food can cause serious stomach upset- not fun.

I like avoderm, wilderness etc. but you can find quality in the grocery as well, just read labels.
Also if you do switch, you need to mix old with new to help them adjust to the new stuff so don't wait until you are out of what you are currently feeding.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I raised a 95lb female Lab on regular old Purina puppy chow.

Later, I adopted a Doberman that came with a large bag of Iams puppy. Unfortunetly, it gave her stinky dog gas. I went back to the puppy chow, and she was fine. She grew to 85lbs.

My puppies were on Nutro from birth. At one time I tried to change their food VERY GRADUALLY (75% Nutro, 25% other) and they both got really sick. I immediately went back to 100% Nutro and they were fine. They're now 2 1/2 and the only change I made was to go from the puppy formula to the adult.

We use the Ol'Roy 50 pound (the red bag). You can pick it up at Wal-Mart for est. $20. The kernels are small enough the pups can eat them and it's cheaper than puppy chow.

Please feed Blue Buffalo or something along those lines. Cheap pet food is horrible. Never buy dog food in a grocery store or super center. Look up www.truthaboutpetfood.com. This will really open your eyes.

Check the ingredients. I know its cheap food but its alot of fillers. More fillers, more poop, and the more they eat.

We're using Eukanuba for our doggies. We also sometimes include meat without any seasoning.
