At 10:30 lastnight I heard one of my goats bawling, so I throw on my boots and my DH's coat and ran outside. I found our little Miss Tubby in labor and the baby's front feet were already out. I stayed outside with her for a while then came in to warm up. At 11:30 I was gearing up to go back out and my 12 year old DS woke up and decided to come out and help. When we went back out there still wasn't any change with Tubby so we grabbed some latex gloves and an old towel and went back out to pull the baby. We got the baby out and cleaned his mouth and nose off so he could breathe, but Tubby walked off. She didn't even turn around to smell her baby or show any interest at all. So we wrapped the baby in the towel and took it inside. My youngest DS's dog decided that she is the momma and helped clean the baby off! Less than 5 minutes later we went back outside to check on Tubby and she was having another baby, but this one wasn't coming out right either. We had a head, but no legs were out. I gloved up again and cleaned off his mouth and nose since he was already struggling to breathe then reached one finger in to pop a foot out. Baby #2 was out within seconds of getting a foot out. Of course Tubby didn't show any interest in him either. This was her second time kidding. The first time we didn't catch her while she was in labor and she left her baby out in the pasture to die. Luckily she had minor complications this time and was bawling out very loudly and I could hear her or we would have lost these babies as well. We are now bottle feeding the babies. Baby #1 was born with very little white on his head and it's kindof in the shape of a J so his name is Jay-Jay. Baby #2 my DS named loudmouth because he bawls very loudly! ![]() Needless to say, it was a very long night! I didn't get to go to bed until 4 am and have to get up every 2-3 hours to feed the babies...Can you say "Sleep Deprived"? ![]() Just a few minutes after their birth: ![]() Taking a cozy nap in their basket: Last edited by CarrieM; 01-11-2012 at 09:15 AM. |

Oh they are so cute. My duaghters friend is going to school to be a vet and was working on a pig farm one of the pig had babbies and she took the runt home and is keeping him for a few months. His name is Philip he is so cute when ever he comes over he runs all over the house , I feed him dog food and apples. He is about 50 lbs now and cute as can be I am going to hate to see him go but he will have fun at the petting zoo. If she did not take him he would of died so the farmer told her she could have him.

They are the cutest little things! Did you know she was having twins? I wonder why she takes no interest in them? Does the dog still mother them? Aren't I full of questions? |

I raise pygmy goats, but there is a smaller breed called nigerian dwarfs. I have a couple milk goats too so I can milk them and keep milk in the freezer for the babies. |

I just came back in from giving my goats some left-over apple slices and we have two more babies! Of course, they are both also boys! They are adorable though! They are brown with white on their heads. I'll have to wait until morning to take pics, but will try to post them asap!

| Lol, yes, different moms. You never really know how many to expect. We had these two nannies that were due, then we also have 3 more nannies that will be kidding Feb/March timeframe if everything goes well. ETA: Maybe I should be a little more specific! The two new babies are twins. (Sorry, but I do have a good excuse! Lol, I am deprived of sleep )
