I just got the call from the vet and they lost Thunder on the operating table. He had just drained 1 and 1/2 cups of fluid from her chest cavity and all of a sudden flat-lined. She was born with a mechanical murmur and we were her rescue family because she could not be bred due to the murmur. The vet said that she was the longest living one with this type murmur that he had ever seen. Most die by 3 to 4 months. He congratulated us for keeping her healthy for as long as we did. Her organs were starting to shut down because of lack of oxygen, due to the murmur. She was a very special part of our family and will be greatly missed by her mom and dad......

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I, too, believe in the Rainbow Bridge. Thunder will have many friends there and one of them is my beloved Bentley. I'm sorry that you have to go through this. It's a terrible thing. I don't know what else to say, but just know that your in our thoughts.

Awww! I am sooo sorry- I feel your pain- truthfully, I am crying. Everyone that knows me personally knows that I am a dog lover and when my babies have passed it has been so hard- thoughts and prayers are with you and your family!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Our vet gave us the rainbow bridge poem when we had to put down our beloved cheyanne a year ago and it still makes me cry. Great poem though! Hugs and prayers to you & your family.
