What kind of dog? You may be able to litter train him. If this continues in the summer outside put tabasco on it. He'll only try it once!!!

My ex-husband's dog did this because he wasn't getting enough dog food to abate his hunger. My dogs had never done this until we divorced and he was once again responsible for feeding them.

Try feeding him a little bit of pineapple. Dogs love it when it goes in--but they won't eat it again once it comes out.

Hate when puppies do that! Good Luck!

There are some answers on Cesar Millans webpage about this. (I just love this guy)
Besides the tabasco, it says you can use Adolphs Meat tenderizer on it, suppose to make it bitter. We have a 4 month old boxer, and he doesn't eat his own but likes to get in the cats litter box EEWWW!! He does get in trouble when he does it.

We had this problem when we got our dog from the pound about a year ago. I would recommend calling your vet and getting their advice. We did and we bought these tablets that we fed him twice a day and it makes his poop taste awful apparently and now he no longer eats it.

I watched an episode of Cesar Millan's show today and that very topic was addressed. Dogs will do that when they arent getting enough potassium.

Cesar was giving the dog pieces of banana along with training it.

The dog we rescued..Foxie..she did that from time to time when we first got her..SICK I know.

I think she was thrown in the backyard to fend for herself most of the time.

Sorry you are having to deal with this, but one day you will look back and miss this time so as silly as this sounds enjoy every minute of training, cleaning, and yelling at your little one

Don't they make puppy pads for training? I think it has a scent that makes then want to go on the pad or something.

It is called corpophagia when you dog eats their poop - there is medicine that can be dispensed to try to break the habit, hopefully they will out grow it. The vet medicine is called Forbid but our hospital also recommends meat tenderizer but the doctor is specific about it being Adolf's meat tenderizer - put it in every meal for 5-7 days AND clean up immediately after pet poops!

HTH plus you have some things that you can research.
