hyper active cat

My cat is almost 8 years old and has become super hyper active these last few months. I'm not sure what its relaly all about. We moved 9 months ago, from a much smaller house, where he was more confined, to now a huge house with a full basment (which he has acess to using a kitty door) and he is more hyper now than ever.
He literally just runs around the house like a mad cat, and not just at certain times.. but ALLLLL the time! Could soemthing be wrong? Is this normal? Nothing has really changed except his enviroment, but like I said, he is much more 'free' now than he ever has been.. maybe that's it? But its been 9 months, I'd think he'd settle down.
Just curious.

I'd take him to the vet. It could be something as simple as fleas, worms, or ear mites (they drive cats nuts!!) Or he could be getting into something in your new neighborhood that is poisonous or an allergen.

He is 100% inside kitty so I don't think its something he's eatting. I don't know how he would get fleas, worms, or mites being inside all the time but maybe?

It could be that he just has room to run and is loving it! Our first home was about 1200 sq feet and I have an extremely introverted Persian. Our new home is twice the size and he has a huge screened in porch to play on as well...his personality has really come out. We've lived here for about 18 months and he's still extremely active.
You may want to consider having a check up with your vet just to be sure there's nothing medical going on, but it sounds like he's just loving life and being a crazy cat!

Wow whatever you are slipping him in his food can you send me some for my cats? They are all chunky lazy butts. Seriously though as others have said just take him to the vet to make sure its nothing wrong. He probably just likes having much more freedom! Let us know what the vet says!
